The beauty of Tchaikovsky's immortal music
If the story brings a fairy tale sparkle, the music of the genius Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is the soul that sustains the entire performance. The clear melodies of the opening Overture take the audience back to the Christmas party, where Clara receives her fateful gift – a wooden nutcracker. In particular, "Pas De Deux", one of the most beloved pieces in ballet history – always brings the audience to silence. The cello part leads the emotion, repeating it with increasing intensity, then rising to a touching climax as the voice of pure beauty.
The entire musical score is performed live by the HBSO Symphony Orchestra and HBSO Women's Choir, under the baton of Conductor Le Ha My, promising to bring an emotional experience, fully recreating the spirit of Tchaikovsky.
A Christmas world for all ages
The ballet takes the audience from the warm festive atmosphere of Act 1, through the battle with the Mouse King, to the brilliant scenery of the Candy Kingdom in Act 2.
There, the Sugarplum Fairy, snowflakes, dewdrops and all kinds of sweets create a magical fairy tale "universe" that any child dreams of visiting. HBSO continues to introduce the troupe's talented artists, familiar faces on the Vietnamese ballet stage: Do Hoang Khang Ninh - Clara / Sugarplum Fairy; Le Tuan Anh - Nutcracker; Le Duc Anh - Knight; Chika Tatsumi - Snow Queen; La Man Nhi - Dewdrop; Dang Minh Hien - Mr. Drosselmeyer...

In major cities around the world, “The Nutcracker” is an indispensable artistic tradition every Christmas season. In Ho Chi Minh City, HBSO’s version has also become part of the holiday memories of many generations of audiences.
Many families return each year, simply to capture the warmth of living Clara's story together, even for just one night.
The return of "The Nutcracker" in 2025 is not just a performance, but an invitation to step into a space of faith, of miracles and of pure artistic beauty in the midst of the holiday season.
