The Vietnam Investment and Development Commercial Bank ( BIDV ) stated that the latest tactic used by fraudsters is to impersonate the bank and send emails with content such as "identity verification," "transaction verification," etc., accompanied by buttons or links like "continue verification," "verify now," etc., to entice recipients to click on them.
These links may contain malware or lead to fake websites designed to steal personal information, account details, bank card information, and more.
BIDV affirms that all information from this bank is sent only from the email address bidv.com.vn; absolutely no buttons or links are attached that require customers to click.
To protect information and assets, BIDV advises customers to absolutely not click on any buttons or links in suspicious emails; always carefully check the sender's address, email domain, and the content of the request.

Fake BIDV emails are being sent to customers to scam them.
Agribank also continuously updates its customers on the latest scam tactics. Accordingly, customers need to be wary of scams where individuals impersonate bank employees to call or text them requesting debt payments, offering credit card limit increases, assistance in unlocking accounts, recovering passwords, checking incoming funds, etc.
Scammers often ask users to access links and install fake applications in order to gain control of their phones and spread malware. They then request users to transfer money to the scammers, directly stealing their assets.

Many banks and e-wallets have deployed the SIMO system to their users.
Along with advising users to be vigilant, the banking sector is also implementing many solutions to prevent and deter cybercrime. According to the latest data from the Payment Department of the State Bank of Vietnam, as of December 11th, 122 out of 147 units had successfully reported to the Fraudulent Account Alert System (SIMO), with a total of nearly 600,000 payment accounts/e-wallets showing signs of suspected fraud, scams, or legal violations.
The SIMO system has provided alerts to 2.13 million customers. Of these, more than 670,000 customers temporarily paused/canceled transactions after receiving the alerts, with a total transaction amount exceeding 2,500 billion VND.
