A restaurant shares hundreds of "zero-dong" meals with people in flooded areas in Hoi An.

DNO - Sharing the difficulties with people in flooded areas, a restaurant in Hoi An has been distributing hundreds of free meals on October 27 and 28.

Due to the large amount of water flowing from the upper Thu Bon River, this afternoon, the water level in Hoi An exceeded alert level 3, causing many areas in Hoi An and Hoi An Tay wards to be flooded.

Sharing the difficulties with the people, especially households in low-lying areas who are busy moving their belongings to avoid the flood, this morning, Sua Cafe restaurant (Le Hong Phong extended street, Hoi An ward) gathered people and food to cook hundreds of free meals to serve everyone.

Mr. Huynh Dac Thanh (restaurant owner) said that the restaurant is expected to distribute rice from noon on October 27 and October 28, divided into 2 sessions a day, each session will cook more than 100 free vegetarian meals.

“The food is cooked by restaurant staff, ensuring food hygiene and balanced nutrition. Hopefully, we can share some of the difficulties with people in flooded areas who cannot cook for themselves these days,” said Mr. Thanh.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (residing in An Hoi block, Hoi An ward) said that since this morning her house has been flooded more than 1 meter, the whole family had to move to a neighbor's house for temporary shelter so they could not cook anything.

"Since yesterday, we've been mainly busy cleaning up the flood, so when I heard that a restaurant was cooking hot rice and giving it to people in the area, I stopped by early to receive it," Ms. Hong shared.

Another resident said that their house was flooded, the kitchen was leaking and they couldn't cook anything, so when they heard the news, they called the restaurant to register and brought their two children to pick it up.

The act of Sua restaurant cooking and distributing "0 VND" meals is a beautiful act of sharing with the community, helping people struggling with natural disasters "warm their hearts" during the rainy and flood days.

According to the forecast from the hydrometeorological agency, tonight, the flood in Hoi An will only peak while the heavy rain will continue, so the flooding will continue for the next few days.
