Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee, emphasized that the current management model helps Hoi An be more proactive in conservation work, shorten administrative procedures and ensure harmony between heritage conservation and sustainable tourism development.

New vision: "Living" heritage combined with cultural industry

Entering a new phase, experts have proposed many strategic directions for sustainable development of Hoi An. Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Van Bai, Vice Chairman of the National Council for Cultural Heritage, said that Hoi An is a "living heritage" and needs to pursue a "dynamic conservation" model, turning cultural values into economic resources.

Accordingly, Hoi An will provide unique cultural resources for Da Nang's cultural industries. In return, Da Nang's strengths in modernization and commercialization will help transform Hoi An's "cultural capital" into high-value "economic products", creating new experiences for tourists.

Advantages from connection with Da Nang

The connection between Hoi An and Da Nang is considered a historic opportunity to create a new development pole. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council, commented that the advantages of Hoi An's heritage tourism when combined with Da Nang's title of "livable city" will be the fulcrum for developing a multi-sector service-tourism economic model.

The characteristic ancient urban space harmoniously combined with garden villages, craft villages and natural ecosystems is the foundation for Hoi An to develop cultural industry, entertainment industry and heritage economy in the future.
