Coffee price assessment and forecast
The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) forecasts that coffee output in the 2025/26 crop year could increase by about 10% if the weather continues to be favorable. In the first 9 months of 2025, coffee exports will reach about 1.25 million tons, earning more than 7 billion USD, up 11% in volume and 62% in value compared to the same period last year. The even growth in output and price helps the Vietnamese coffee industry expect to increase its turnover by about 3 billion USD.
Europe remains the main export market, with more than 710,000 tons of coffee exported, earning over 4 billion USD, accounting for nearly half of the total export volume and value. Notably, 27 EU countries contribute more than 40% of Vietnam's output and nearly 40% of its export value.
In the most recent trading session, robusta price on the London exchange decreased by 134 USD (2.92%), to 4,437 USD/ton; arabica price on the New York exchange decreased by 12.9 cents (3.19%), to 390.1 cents/lb.
US President Donald Trump announced that coffee is on the list of items exempted from 20% import tax under the new trade agreement with Vietnam, opening up great opportunities for the coffee export industry.
According to the USDA, global green coffee exports in the 2025/26 crop year are expected to reach 122.3 million bags, up 700,000 bags from the previous crop year. Colombia is forecast to see a decrease of 500,000 bags due to lower production, while Indonesia and Ethiopia are forecast to see increases of 400,000 and 800,000 bags, respectively, due to abundant supplies.
