Bendito Mantato (17 years old) and Douka Nkoto (14 years old) have been named by netizens in connection with suspected age fraud at Manchester United. |
According to information from the Telegraph , there are suspicions that some of the young players from overseas are actually adults and have previously played in older age groups in their home countries.
The evidence reportedly includes photographs that may indicate these players played for youth teams at an older age than officially reported by the two Manchester clubs.
Although no players have been named, the television channel reports that both Manchester United and Manchester City were unaware that some of their players were not of the age they had declared. However, both clubs have become aware of the emergence of evidence related to the matter.
Three of the six players accused are playing for England's youth teams, and several parents in the academies of Manchester United and Manchester City had previously expressed concerns about the issue. Both Manchester clubs in the Premier League declined to comment on whether any investigations have been or will be conducted.
However, Manchester City insists that they have not violated any legal or regulatory obligations, and argues that it is normal for young players to compete in older age groups.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is committed to complying with all regulations regarding the recruitment and registration of players in their academy, and emphasizes that they always prioritize the protection and development of young players.
Manchester United also affirmed that their recruitment process focuses on future potential rather than just looking at current performance or physical development of a player.
