Sweet fruit season by the river

In the last days of the year, when the rivers gradually calm down after the rainy season, it is also the time when the orange gardens along the river are in full bloom. Following the scent of oranges in the wind, we went to Van Phu ward - just a few minutes away from the provincial administrative center to explore the orange garden that is becoming an attractive destination for many tourists.

Taking advantage of the large land fund and the desire to build a clean agricultural model near the center, Ms. Nghiem Thi Loan (white short-sleeved shirt) and her husband decided to choose the V36 orange variety (Vinh orange) to start their agricultural development journey.

While Ms. Loan is the one who decided to grow oranges in the riverside area, Mr. Vu Thanh Vien (Ms. Loan's husband) is the one who is directly attached to each orange tree every day. He is the one who is applying the organic farming model, creating a very unique flavor for Van Phu oranges. With self-fermented products from fish, soybeans, biological yeast and absolutely no use of herbicides, Mr. Vien and Ms. Loan's orange garden develops in a sustainable and safe direction.

From the first orange trees, up to now, Ms. Loan's 5-year-old orange garden has entered a stable fruit-bearing stage. On an area of about 1 hectare - this is the largest orange garden in Van Phu, there are over 100 orange trees that have been harvested for 3 years, with a yield of 6 - 7 tons of fruit/year. The orange garden ripens naturally from the beginning of November and lasts until mid-December.

Not only selling fruit, the family also opens the garden for visitors to visit, experience, check-in and pick oranges. Many visitors expressed their satisfaction when they could eat oranges in the garden and relax in the natural space. The meticulous care and desire to create clean agricultural products of the garden owner has helped the orange garden become more and more known.

In particular, the garden owner also allows visitors to choose and cut orange branches themselves to bring home and put in vases, becoming beautiful and unique home decorations.

The golden, sweet and juicy oranges quickly won the hearts of consumers. Currently, oranges are mainly consumed within the province and distributed to some neighboring areas. Although the orange growing model is still quite new in Van Phu ward, thanks to the care of farmers and increasing market demand, this place is gradually becoming a special highlight in the sweet fruit season along the river. Not only bringing economic value, the fruit-laden orange gardens also open up the potential for developing experiential tourism right next to the center of the province.
