On May 8, Quang Nam Central General Hospital reported the successful rescue of a critical drowning case. The victim was LAT, 16 years old, residing in Nui Thanh town, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province.
Previously, T. was brought ashore by locals after drowning at Rang beach, Nui Thanh district, in a coma, cyanotic and stopped breathing.

T. was revived thanks to timely emergency care from doctors (Photo provided by the hospital).
T. was brought to the Emergency Department in a coma, respiratory failure and acute pulmonary edema. The patient was intubated for respiratory support.
T. was then transferred to the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department. After more than a day, T. was out of danger, her breathing began to stabilize and her health gradually improved from the 4th day. After nearly 2 weeks of treatment, T. was discharged from the hospital.
Doctor Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diem, from the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, shared: "In this drowning case, T. was given first aid by local people properly, lying on his back, tilting his head to the left and performing chest compressions on the spot. This first aid method helps water in the victim's airways to easily flow out with the rhythm of chest compressions, bringing oxygenated blood to the brain sooner."
Doctor Ngoc Diem warns that now is the summer, the time when children are susceptible to drowning accidents. Parents need to supervise their children when playing, absolutely do not let children swim or play near ponds, lakes, rivers and streams without an adult accompanying them.
In particular, when a drowning accident occurs, it is necessary to know how to give first aid immediately and take the victim to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.
