Improving cultural quality from grassroots movements

Football is a strong grassroots sport of Thieu Hoa commune.

Our first impression when coming to this land was the peaceful space, the village roads and alleys were neat, the people were friendly and close-knit. Every day, at the village and neighborhood cultural houses, people gathered to chat and participate in cultural and sports activities in large numbers. Children played and frolicked in the yard; the elderly sat and relaxed, chatting; young people and middle-aged people played volleyball and danced.

In Ward 2, every afternoon, residents and club members gather to participate in physical education and sports. The ward has an art troupe, zumba club, volleyball, and soccer. The art and sports teams/clubs attract a large number of residents to participate enthusiastically. Mr. Le Van Thanh, head of Ward 2, said: "The cultural house and sports ground have been invested in and built spaciously with full equipment, basically meeting the needs of meetings, cultural and sports activities of the residents. Regularly implemented cultural and sports programs and movements have contributed to raising awareness and responsibility of residents in building a cultural environment, cultural families, and preserving traditional cultural values. Thanks to that, the ward has continuously maintained the title of cultural residential area, with no social evils or domestic violence, and over 98.8% of households achieving the title of cultural family".

In Thanh Dat village, every afternoon people gather at the cultural house and sports field to play volleyball, leather volleyball, and zumba. The village has two art troupes of the farmers' association and the women's association, two volleyball clubs, and one leather volleyball club. Mr. Duong Van Sam, secretary and head of Thanh Dat village, shared: "The village has 156 households with 520 people. People actively participate in cultural and sports movements, building cultural families and cultural residential areas. For many years, 100% of weddings and funerals have been held in a civilized and frugal way, without drums, trumpets, or high-power loudspeakers. Thanks to that, the spiritual and cultural life of the people has been increasingly improved. The rate of cultural families has reached 98.05%".

After the merger, Thieu Hoa commune has 36 residential areas and villages. 100% of residential areas and villages have cultural houses and standard sports grounds, meeting the community needs of the people. Art and sports clubs/teams operate enthusiastically. On holidays and New Year such as: National Great Unity Day, National Day September 2... the commune, village and residential area all organize cultural exchange programs, sports competitions, creating healthy and useful playgrounds for people to participate. Thanks to that, the spiritual and cultural life and health of the people are increasingly improved, creating solidarity in the community, a healthy and civilized cultural environment, and repelling social evils. The rate of cultural families reaches 94.59%. The rate of cultural residential areas is estimated at 100%.

Along with improving the quality of grassroots movements, Thieu Hoa commune has paid attention to the work of preserving and promoting heritage values. Currently, the commune has 9 relics ranked at all levels, including 2 national relics: Quan Nho Temple and Dinh Le Temple. The relics are protected, with attention paid to restoration, embellishment, and prevention of degradation. Traditional festivals associated with relics and local village festivals are organized to ensure a civilized lifestyle while still preserving traditional values.

These positive results are the result of the efforts and determination of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Thieu Hoa commune in implementing the key targets and tasks of the program to improve cultural quality in the period of 2021-2025 and implementing the movement of the whole people uniting to build a cultural life. Every year, the commune has promoted propaganda work on the role of culture, cultural activities and movements in the socio -economic development of the locality and in the formation and development of each individual's personality. At the same time, it mobilizes people to actively participate in local movements.

In improving the quality of culture, the commune has focused on building cultural families, preventing domestic violence; building typical cultural family models, exemplary grandparents and parents, and harmonious couples. Thereby promoting the values and traditions of Vietnamese families, aiming to build a cultural and civilized environment from each family to the community. At the same time, the commune has organized cultural - artistic, physical training and sports activities at the grassroots level; increased mobilization and effective use of resources to invest in perfecting the cultural institutional system. Through activities to build grassroots cultural life, in residential areas, many new factors have appeared, typical advanced in building and developing the socio-economy, building cultural families, creating a healthy lifestyle, and civilized lifestyle.
