Attending the conference at the Department of Education and Training bridge were leaders of the Department; representatives of leaders of a number of schools, IT teachers and heads of the parent representative boards of the following schools: To Hieu High School; Chieng Sinh High School; Quyet Thang Secondary School; Le Quy Don Secondary School; To Hieu Secondary School; Quyet Tam Secondary School; Tran Quoc Toan Primary School; Quyet Thang Primary School and Chieng Le Primary School. The conference was connected online to nearly 400 bridges at educational institutions in the province, with the participation of nearly 1,000 managers, IT teachers and representatives of the parent representative boards of educational institutions.
The Project to Improve Capacity, Knowledge and Skills in Applying Information Technology to International Standards for High School Students in Son La Province, 2025 - 2035, was developed according to Decision No. 1241/QD-UBND dated May 29, 2025 of the People's Committee of Son La Province, with key objectives: Improving teaching capacity: Striving for 100% of Information Technology teachers to meet IT application skills standards according to the international competency framework by 2030; Innovating training programs: Integrating modern contents such as programming, computational thinking, network security and applying digital technology into teaching; Improving output quality: Striving for 90% of high school students participating in the exam program to obtain international IT certificates by 2035; Developing facilities: Building a synchronous system of facilities and online learning, creating favorable conditions for students in remote and isolated areas to access high-quality education; Strengthen international cooperation: Connect with prestigious educational institutions to update new technology trends and standards.
At the conference, representatives of ICDL Vietnam introduced the international IT program "ICDL Digital Student"; introduced the internationality and value of ICDL certification; introduced the learning support ecosystem including the EduX learning system and the Skillbox review/exam system; and provided instructions on how to organize review, assessment and exam for the ICDL international certificate. The Department of Education and Training also directed educational institutions on the implementation process, principles of budget development, collection levels and financial management when implementing the program.
ICDL Digital Student is a program developed by leading experts from the Confederation of European Information Technology Institutions (CEPIS), has been widely deployed in many countries, in accordance with the Digital Competency Framework for Learners by the Ministry of Education and Training (Circular No. 02/2025/TT-BGDDT), is an important tool to realize the goals of the Project.
The leaders of the Department of Education and Training emphasized that the implementation of the ICDL Digital Student program not only helps students improve their comprehensive digital capacity and integrate with international standards, but also brings many advantages, such as being exempted from studying/taking the General Informatics course, meeting the Information Technology Output Standards at many universities and colleges in Vietnam. ICDL is ready to accompany the Department of Education and Training to share international experiences, contributing to the realization of the Project and the goal of digital transformation in the education sector of Son La province.
The implementation of the Project opens a new phase in training and standardizing digital skills for students, contributing to narrowing the digital gap, improving the quality of human resources, and serving the sustainable development of the province.
