Greeting us at the beginning of the village, walking along the concrete road adorned with national flags and colorful pennants, Ms. Sa Thi Thuong, Party Secretary and Head of Un Village, informed us: Un Village currently has 170 households with 667 inhabitants, comprising four ethnic groups: Muong, Thai, Kinh, and Mong. Previously, the village was very poor; the roads were all dirt, muddy during the rainy season, and people had to carry water in cans from the stream. Thanks to the national target program on building new rural areas, the village now has concrete roads, electricity, and clean water. The villagers have received support for economic development, and their living standards have improved. The average per capita income has reached 45 million VND/year; the poverty rate in the village is now 25%.
Following the motto "The people do the work, the State provides support," the village's internal road network has been concreted for a total length of over 8 km. The people contributed over 1 billion VND, donated over 10,000 m² of land, and provided over 700 days of labor. The State budget provided over 8 billion VND to purchase materials, cement, etc. With improved roads, goods circulated smoothly, and the people's businesses flourished. Ms. Dinh Thi Pang happily said: "Before, travel was difficult, but now with concrete roads, everyone is happy. Traveling and trading are easier, agricultural products sell at better prices, and life is less difficult."

The economy of Un village is undergoing a strong transformation. The villagers currently cultivate over 70 hectares of teak and mahogany trees, and over 25 hectares of fruit trees. Livestock farming is developing towards commercial production, with nearly 1,100 buffaloes and cows, and over 3,500 poultry of various kinds. In addition, over 600 hectares of forest have been entrusted to the community and households for strict management and protection, with the people always conscious of preserving the forest. Annually, Un village receives over 60 million VND in forest environmental service fees, which helps the villagers fund repairs to internal roads, the community center, and the purchase of saplings.
Visiting Mr. Mui Van Sung, affectionately known by his neighbors as the "multi-skilled farmer," we clearly felt his hardworking spirit and eagerness to learn. Mr. Sung's integrated economic model currently includes over 400 longan and pomelo trees that are yielding fruit; he raises 12 breeding cows, selling an average of 4-5 cows per year. In addition, he cultivates 3 hectares of teak trees; manages nearly 2,000 square meters of rice paddies; and maintains a 100 square meter fish pond... This integrated economic model brings his family an average income of over 150 million VND per year. Leading us on a tour of his farm, Mr. Sung confided: "My family used to be very poor, but now we have enough to eat and save thanks to hard work and a willingness to learn. With government support, our people must strive even harder; only then can we prosper."

Along with economic development, the cultural life of the people in Un village has also become increasingly rich. In the evenings, the village cultural center is filled with lively music. The village's performing arts troupe, with over 10 members, forms the core of community activities, especially during festivals, the Lunar New Year, and the Great Unity Day. Ms. Quach Thi Thao, the troupe leader, shared: "The troupe practices regularly every week. We sing songs praising our homeland's renewal and perform traditional dances of the Muong and Thai ethnic groups. The 'All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life' movement has spread widely, contributing to changing the mindset and practices of the people, making the villagers even more united and close-knit. To date, 127 out of 170 households in the village have achieved the title of 'Culturally Rich Family,' accounting for nearly 75%; and 100% of children of school age attend school..."
Bản Un is changing every day. This progress comes from the investment resources of the State and the will, faith, and hands of the people, creating a new rural landscape.
