New stature of rural products
Located at the gateway to the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, Thai Nguyen has great potential for agricultural and rural industry development, while also holding a strategic position connecting economic regions. After merging administrative units, the province has more conditions to plan raw material areas, build a sustainable value chain of specialty agricultural products, from production, processing to consumption.
To date, Thai Nguyen has more than 560 OCOP products reaching 3-5 stars, of which 113 are 4-star products and 10 are 5-star products. This is the result of the process of promoting local strengths, linking agricultural production with processing industry and trade promotion.
Notable among them are famous tea brands such as: Shrimp Non Tea (Hao Dat Tea Cooperative), Ngoc Tinh Lien Lotus Tea (Tan Cuong Xanh Company Limited), Tea Dinh, Shrimp Non Tea (Thai Son Tea Cooperative), Flower Tea (Son Dung Tea Cooperative) - all recognized as typical national-level IT products.

Not only tea, the northern region of the province also develops agricultural processing products that meet national standards such as: Tai Hoan vermicelli, Tan Thanh Cooperative turmeric starch, Bac Ha Nano Curcumin. Some products have been exported to the US, Laos, and Thailand, demonstrating the increasingly high competitiveness of Thai Nguyen's agricultural industry and showing the harmonious combination of traditional values with modern technology.
In the program to vote for typical IT products in 2024, Thai Nguyen has 54 provincial-level products, 14 regional-level products and 4 national-level products, contributing to the formation of a diverse and high-quality IT ecosystem.
By 2025, 6 products of the province will continue to be recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as National Typical Industrial Products (according to Decision No. 2568/QD-BCT dated September 15, 2025), including Tan Cuong tea specialties such as: Shrimp Non Tea, Ngoc Tinh Lien Lotus Tea, Tuyet Huong Tea, Tam Tra, Flower Tea, and Bac Kan Turmeric - regional linkage products demonstrating the open development direction of Thai Nguyen Industrial Products.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of Bac Kan Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company, shared: Bac Kan turmeric is not only a typical national agricultural product but also represents the aspiration to reach out to the midlands and mountainous regions. The company focuses on developing a sustainable value chain, diversifying turmeric products, so that each product has a strong Vietnamese agricultural identity and affirms its position in the international market.
Reaching out to Thai Nguyen brand
Typical IT products of Thai Nguyen not only meet quality standards and have sophisticated designs but also reach out to the international market, creating impressive revenue and enhancing the local brand. Typical examples include Non Shrimp Tea of Hao Dat Tea Cooperative and Nano Curcumin of Bac Ha Medicinal Materials Technology Joint Stock Company, which are clear evidence of the power of technological innovation, creativity and modern management.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh, Director of Bac Ha Pharmaceutical Technology Joint Stock Company, shared: Nano Curcumin being recognized as a National Typical Pharmaceutical Product in 2024 has opened up great opportunities for the business. The product is favored by domestic and foreign consumers, introduced in the US and Korea, helping to significantly increase revenue. Along with support in terms of factories and modern equipment from the Department of Industry and Trade, the business has improved production capacity and ensured stable quality.
Thanks to the application of advanced processing lines, traceability and brand protection, many of Thai Nguyen's agricultural products are now available in the US, South Korea, Laos and Thailand. From traditional products such as tea, vermicelli, turmeric to high-tech products, Thai Nguyen agricultural products are becoming "valuable" items, contributing to revenue growth, creating resources for reinvestment, improving technology and expanding production scale.
To promote the development of ICT, the Thai Nguyen Department of Industry and Trade is implementing many synchronous solutions including: Supporting technology transfer, investing in modern machinery and factories; providing guidance on packaging and label design; supporting trademark registration, training in management skills, marketing, trade promotion; creating conditions for businesses to participate in fairs, exhibitions, online trading and on e-commerce platforms.
The province's industrial promotion programs prioritize support for typical IT products, helping businesses expand markets, ensure stable output and improve competitiveness.

Mr. Duong Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized: The Department always accompanies businesses, cooperatives and production facilities, providing comprehensive support from technology, factories to brand building and expanding consumption markets. Many of Thai Nguyen's ICT products have been exported, both preserving their traditional identity and affirming their position in the domestic and foreign markets.
Being recognized as a typical IT product at the provincial, regional and national levels is an affirmation of quality, and at the same time opens up opportunities for businesses to participate more deeply in trade promotion, advertising, digital transformation and technological innovation programs. This is a "passport" to help Thai Nguyen IT products reach further, affirm the regional brand and spread the value of modern agriculture.
The spread of typical agricultural products is contributing to positioning the Thai Nguyen agricultural brand in the domestic and international markets. This achievement comes from the process of innovation and creativity in production and is the driving force for enterprises and cooperatives to continue investing in technology, improving competitiveness, and affirming the position of Thai Nguyen agricultural products in the global value chain.
