Prevent the catching and trapping of wild and migratory birds.

In recent years, along with the development of socio-economic life, the demand for enjoying and trading wild birds, especially migratory birds, has increased. This has led to the practice of setting traps, nets, and using glue to catch birds, which not only disrupts the ecological balance but also seriously affects biodiversity and the image of a green, clean, and beautiful rural area. To prevent this behavior, the Yen Lap Forest Protection Department is stepping up its propaganda efforts, strengthening inspections, and strictly handling violations.

Prevent the catching and trapping of wild and migratory birds.

The Yen Lap Forest Ranger Station, in coordination with the Yen Lap Commune Police, confiscated tools used to trap wild and migratory birds in the Can field, Yen Lap commune.

According to observations in several communes, the locations chosen by people to set traps for wild birds are often along the edges of lakes, ponds, streams, and harvested rice fields, often with large, dense bushes or shallow puddles. Here, they place fake storks made of styrofoam and stick glued bamboo sticks everywhere, from the middle of the fields and along the embankments to the clumps of trees. In some places, people even use technological devices that emit bird calls to trap wild birds. This has led to a decline in the number of wild birds, affecting the biodiversity balance of the ecosystem.

To strengthen the management and protection of wild and migratory birds right from the beginning of the year, the Yen Lap Forest Ranger Station advised the People's Committees of the communes to issue documents on strengthening the management, protection, and conservation of wild and migratory bird species; to consolidate the working groups at the commune level; and for core members, including forest rangers, police, and relevant departments, to conduct inspections, handle, and dismantle various types of nets and traps.

Strengthen inspections in key areas for hunting and trapping migratory and wild birds to detect, handle, and promptly prevent violations of laws on the management, buying, selling, transporting, processing, trading, and illegal use of animals, especially the trapping, transporting, and trading of wild and migratory birds; collect illegal bird-catching tools and nets...

In addition, the Yen Lap Forest Protection Department, in coordination with the communes in the area, is stepping up propaganda efforts through the public address system regarding the trapping of wild and migratory birds. The content of the propaganda includes the dissemination of relevant legal documents. At the same time, they are advising the People's Committees of the communes to organize restaurants and eateries that use food from wild birds to sign commitments not to hunt, trap, buy, sell, trade, or transport migratory birds, wild birds, and forest animals illegally.

Prevent the catching and trapping of wild and migratory birds.

Release wild and migratory birds back into their natural habitat.

Comrade Nguyen Van Son, Head of the Yen Lap Forest Ranger Station, said: Although functional agencies and commune authorities have taken decisive action, the trapping of wild and migratory birds still occurs secretly. To avoid inspection and control by functional agencies, the perpetrators constantly change the time and location of their activities, making it difficult to track and handle them.

Furthermore, the area is vast, and the penalties are not sufficiently deterrent to deal with violators. Most importantly, people themselves must be aware that their actions are strictly prohibited and contrary to the law, so that they voluntarily abandon hunting, trading, and consuming wild and migratory birds, thus contributing to the protection of the ecological environment and biodiversity.

Currently, as the season for migratory birds and wild birds to return to their nests begins, the Yen Lap Forest Protection Department is organizing a force in coordination with relevant agencies and the People's Committees of the communes to strengthen patrols, inspections, and control in key areas for hunting, trading, and consuming wild and migratory birds.

Strengthening public awareness campaigns to discourage the hunting of wild birds, encouraging people to proactively report violators, and contributing to the conservation of wild and migratory birds will create a healthy and intact living environment.
