In the era of digital transformation and global competition, Vietnam nurtures the aspiration to become a developed, high-income country by 2045. As General Secretary To Lam affirmed: “The era of national development is the era of breakthrough and accelerated development under the leadership of the Party, successfully building a socialist Vietnam that is rich, strong, democratic, equitable, civilized, prosperous, and happy; catching up with, advancing together, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers”.
To realize that aspiration, the Politburo has identified the “four strategic pillars” in national development. These orientations not only require drastic actions from the entire political system, but also place very high demands on propaganda work in lighting up aspirations, guiding awareness and creating social consensus so that all policies can be put into practice in a practical and sustainable way. Thereby, affirming the increasingly essential role of this work in the new development stage of the country, with both opportunities and challenges intertwined.
Nowadays, cyberspace is becoming a major ideological front with many complex and multi-dimensional issues. The propaganda industry not only plays the role of communication, but must also be the "game master" to keep the information game not only fast, correct, accurate... but also ensure persuasiveness.
The virtual network is a place where information is subject to unpredictable changes. Therefore, hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces... constantly take advantage of this to distort, incite, and divide people's hearts and weaken their trust in the Party and the regime. Just a edited clip, a distorted statement, or a policy that has not been fully disseminated can create a "storm of public opinion". In such situations, the propaganda sector is the force that responds quickly, grasps public opinion, provides official information, and clarifies the nature of the problem, contributing to cooling down social psychology before fake news causes serious consequences.
Faced with the demands of the digital age, propagandists must also understand technology, algorithms, operate digital channels, livestream, design infographics, etc. The propaganda sector also proactively builds a "people's information battlefront", mobilizing party members, intellectuals, and influencers to spread positive information and refute falsehoods - becoming a "soft but solid shield" to protect the Party's ideological foundation.
95 years of construction and growth is a journey of tempering the courage and intelligence of the propaganda sector. Promoting the glorious tradition and spirit of innovation, the ideological work team continues to maintain the role of "a guiding light", worthy of being the pioneering force in building the Party and developing the country to become increasingly prosperous, democratic and civilized.
