From September 12 to 15, Party and State leaders and more than 600 domestic and international delegates and distinguished guests attended the 8th International Conference of the Asia- Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN-8) in 2024 in Cao Bang (APGN-8) to ignite solidarity, sharing, cooperation, and connecting global geopark heritage "resources" among countries.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, Chairman of the National Committee UNESCO Vietnam affirmed that the APGN-8 Conference is a festival for localities holding UNESCO titles, researchers, managers, and scholars from countries to meet, connect, exchange, share good experiences, constantly innovate, and promote the role of UNESCO Global Geoparks in implementing sustainable development goals.
All the Geopark delegations attending the conference agreed to respond, especially Ms. Lidia Brito, Assistant Director General of UNESCO for Natural Sciences as a scientist, raised a very topical issue before the conference: "Before the conference, we witnessed Cao Bang and many northern provinces suffering heavy damage from climate change caused by storm No. 3. Therefore, the mission of Geoparks together with sustainable development must urgently build an action program to combat climate change, reduce risks to protect the earth and humanity".
The conference took place in 6 thematic groups on sustainable development solutions associated with climate change mitigation, biodiversity... attracting more than 100 scientists and managers to participate, providing many valuable orientations and strategies for developing the Geopark model.

The conference is also a unique cultural meeting place for Geopark heritage because each delegation brings the unique cultural identity of each country to introduce and promote. The cultural space of ethnic groups of the Global Geopark Network is displayed by countries so that delegates can learn about geological heritage and unique tourism products. Cao Bang has more than 20 Geopark booths introducing traditional handicraft products of brocade weaving, incense making, paper, roof tiles and many OCOP products. Geopark booths of Ha Giang, Dak Nong, Lang Son provinces introduce cinnamon, star anise, agarwood, brocade products, etc.
Domestic and international friends are immersed in the unique cultural experience of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark. Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark heritage is a treasure bestowed by nature with many majestic, poetic landscapes and unique cultural heritages that are rare to find anywhere else.
Since the APGN-8 Conference, Cao Bang has been honored to be the destination of UNESCO Global Geopark countries to exchange, learn from each other's experiences, connect tourism... foster solidarity between countries, and build a green, peaceful, and happy earth for humanity.
