Pressure on coach Hoang Anh Tuan's shoulders
Binh Duong Club will enter the match against HAGL at 6:00 p.m. today (November 2) with the eighth position on the rankings. This is Binh Duong's ranking in V-League 2023 - 2024, when Coach Le Huynh Duc is still in charge.
Thus, after appointing Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan and his assistants, recruiting many talented players such as Ngo Tung Quoc, Ho Tan Tai, Ha Duc Chinh, Wellington Nem, Odilzhon Alisherovich..., Binh Duong Club has returned to its original position.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan under pressure
The team from the land of Thu has shown an inconsistent performance: winning or drawing with evenly matched opponents such as Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, but losing to The Cong Viettel and Hanoi Police Club. That is, in terms of performance, Binh Duong Club has not improved despite heavy investment.
When negotiating a contract with Binh Duong Club, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan stated his point of view: he wanted full authority to make professional decisions, from signing contracts with domestic and foreign players, building a coaching staff, to planning training and competition.
The Go Dau team agreed, providing Mr. Tuan with a strong squad with no less than 5 national players (or former players), along with a large coaching team selected by the coach himself, ranging from professional assistants, logistics, analysis, and nutrition.
The competition plan was also approved by coach Hoang Anh Tuan himself, including accommodation, training activities, and training curriculum.
However, the shape of Binh Duong Club has not shown any signs of taking shape in the past 3 months. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan's team depends on Nguyen Tien Linh's goal-scoring ability, leaning towards defensive counter-attacks, rather than controlling the ball and attacking as the coach born in 1968 expected.
Despite having one more player in the match against The Cong Viettel, the Southeast representative was still superficial and stuck. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's problem is not the people. Binh Duong Club has a full squad, but their spirit and playing style are big questions.
Binh Duong Club is lacking "heat"

In the team meeting after the loss to The Cong Viettel, the coaching staff of Binh Duong team confirmed that there were some players who were not determined enough and were distracted by off-field issues, including food and accommodation issues while the team was stationed in the capital. Internal cracks were starting to appear, as some heads were no longer looking in the same direction.
After 10 years of leaving V-League to coach youth teams, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan is having difficulty with his comeback. Obviously, leading youth teams, with the characteristics of flexible players who only train a few months a year, will be very different from coaching a V-League team.
Statistics have shown that to lead a team in the V-League, professional training must go hand in hand with effective team management. The saying “a coach’s chair has 4 legs, the players hold onto 3 legs” by Mr. Dang Tran Chinh (also at Binh Duong Club) although speaks of the “silver” nature of the coaching profession in the V-League, but perhaps it is the same anywhere.
Will HAGL hinder Binh Duong Club?
To build a united team, the head coach needs to have authority and methods to convince players to believe in the path he chooses.
The sudden decision to drop an important player for two consecutive matches due to physical reasons is probably a controversial one. With a coach with a strong personality, clear and firm philosophy, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan understands what he is doing, and is ready to face the risk.
However, football is ultimately about results. In the next two matches, Binh Duong FC will face HAGL and Da Nang. If they do not win, the team from Thu Dau Mot will fall behind. With the investment already made for coach Hoang Anh Tuan, Binh Duong FC may take action.
