At the November 2023 thematic session of the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of November 16th, the Chief Inspector of the province, Chu The Huyen, reported on the results of anti-corruption work in 2023 and the direction and tasks for 2024.
According to Chief Inspector of the province Chu The Huyen, the work of preventing and combating corruption has been implemented by the Provincial People's Committee and all levels and sectors. The solutions to prevent and combat corruption have been implemented seriously and synchronously, along with the regular dissemination and education of laws on preventing and combating corruption, contributing to raising the awareness and responsibility of civil servants, public employees and workers.

Authorities at all levels and in all sectors have achieved positive and clear results, detecting and handling many corruption cases through investigation, prosecution and trial. Corruption is handled strictly, with the right people and the right crimes.
The entire inspection sector conducted 323 administrative inspections, including 306 planned and 17 unscheduled inspections. Through these inspections, conclusions were issued for 226 cases at 468 units, uncovering violations totaling 5.747 billion VND and 101,540 m² of land.
Following the inspection, recommendations were made to recover 39.166 billion VND; to reduce the value of final settlements, reduce capital allocation, and other recommendations totaling 13.161 billion VND and 101,540 m² of land; to impose administrative sanctions on 52 organizations and 273 individuals for violations; and to transfer one case to the investigative agency.
On May 25, 2023, the Provincial Inspectorate held a lottery to randomly select 20 individuals for asset and income verification in 2023 across four units. Currently, the Provincial Inspectorate is implementing the 2023 asset and income verification plan.

The total number of complaints and denunciations arising during the period was 279 cases. State administrative agencies have resolved 247/279 cases, reaching a rate of 88.5%, the remaining 32 cases are being verified and resolved by departments, branches, sectors, and local authorities at all levels according to regulations. After resolving petitions and denunciations, the files of 3 cases were transferred to the police investigation agency.
During the period, investigative agencies actively verified and prosecuted numerous corruption cases. The number of corruption cases discovered during the period was 29 cases/119 defendants; while the number of cases decreased compared to the same period last year, the number of defendants involved in corruption increased by 55.
The damage caused by corruption crimes amounted to over 7,830 billion VND. Assets recovered totaled over 5,647 billion VND, reaching a recovery rate of 72.1%.

According to the Provincial Inspectorate, the development of the market economy has affected a small number of cadres and civil servants who lack training and education, and who, along with their lack of legal knowledge, have taken advantage of loopholes in the law to commit acts of corruption, affecting the reputation of the state apparatus among the people.
The provincial inspectorate also forecasts that the corruption situation in the coming time will continue to be complicated. The situation of officials and civil servants abusing their positions and powers for personal gain, group interests and especially petty corruption is creeping into agencies and units, causing public anger and dissatisfaction.
Corruption occurs mainly in some sensitive areas such as: construction investment, land management, trade, finance, banking, healthcare ... The group of corrupt behaviors that are likely to occur, and need to focus on solutions to prevent and combat are: Taking advantage of position and power while performing duties and public service for personal gain; harassment for personal gain...
