To proactively and promptly respond effectively to unusual weather developments, the Provincial People's Committee requests directors of provincial departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations; Secretaries and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to focus on directing and drastically implementing measures to soon stabilize people's lives and restore production and business.
Accordingly, functional agencies and local authorities review and detect areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and deep flooding to promptly warn people and proactively evacuate people to safe places; deploy forces and means to control, guide, and support traffic, and arrange rescue forces, especially in areas at risk of being cut off and isolated due to landslides and floods to be ready to respond when bad situations occur.
Along with that, the functional sector deploys the protection of dikes and dams according to the alarm level; closely monitors and proactively coordinates with units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct the operation of irrigation and hydroelectric dams to ensure scientific and safe operation of the works and contribute to flood reduction and flood control for downstream areas.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned local authorities to continue to organize support for people to repair and rebuild damaged, collapsed, or washed-away houses; promptly arrange temporary accommodation and ensure safety for households that lost their homes; proactively provide food, drinking water, and essential necessities, and prevent people from going hungry or thirsty. Absolutely do not be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance, and do not let people not be informed about natural disasters. These units also need to urgently deploy and promptly disburse funds supported by the Central Government and the provincial budget reserve to help overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring compliance with regulations and effectiveness.
Heavily affected by storms No. 3, 5 and 10, tens of thousands of houses were flooded, many schools, medical facilities, traffic... were seriously damaged. The total economic damage caused by the storms in Nghe An province is estimated at more than 8,500 billion VND, the largest damage in many years.
