This afternoon (September 10), Director of the Vietnam Road Administration Bui Quang Thai and leaders of the Traffic Police Department inspected flood control work on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.

According to the leader of BOT Phap Van - Cau Gie Joint Stock Company, at Km 191+200 in Van Binh commune, Thuong Tin district, the water is 50 - 60cm deep with a length of about 200m in all lanes.

Mr. Bui Quang Thai and leaders of the Traffic Police Department inspected the flooding situation on the Phap Phan - Cau Gie highway.

Recognizing the initiative of the project investor, Road Management Area I in coordinating with the Traffic Police Department to closely monitor the situation, regulate and divide traffic, Mr. Thai requested to concentrate forces to regulate traffic, ensuring safe traffic. Currently, traffic is still moving normally, however, in case of deeper flooding, the solution of closing the road should be considered.

According to Mr. Thai, the cause of flooding on the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway is that floodwaters in the downstream rivers rise, causing flooding in the entire area, so drainage will be slow. Therefore, local drainage solutions are difficult to implement.

Investors study and evaluate the overall drainage capacity of the project. In case of having to solve the overall drainage of the area, they must work with the local authorities.

In the immediate future, the investor will study additional drainage works and the ability to drain water from local forced pumping stations. In case the flooding cannot be resolved, Mr. Thai will assign the investor to study the renovation of the works by raising the roadbed level of some essential sections.

Previously, due to prolonged rain, the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway was deeply flooded. Since early this morning (September 10), at Km 191+400 of the Phap Van expressway, water from the downstream area has overflowed onto the expressway. Traffic police have been diverting traffic and temporarily banning vehicles from circulating to ensure safety.

From about 7:25 a.m., vehicles going from Phap Van to Cau Gie are arranged to turn around in front of the toll station (Km188).

In the Cau Gie - Phap Van direction, from about 7:50 a.m., the Van Diem area onto the highway was also closed to regulate traffic in the direction of National Highway 1.

By early afternoon, flooding on the Phap Van - Cau Gie highway still existed. However, vehicles traveling from the capital city center to the southern provinces and vice versa could choose to move normally on this highway.
