The 50-year journey of economic diplomacy is a journey built from the first "bricks", breaking the embargo, creating a favorable environment for development; researching/advising, deeply participating in the country's integration process; mobilizing resources for development, responding to and handling complex issues. It is also a journey from perfection in content to developing into a pillar of comprehensive diplomacy. Up to now, economic diplomacy has positioned itself as a worthy position in the value chain of the country's socio-economic development. In particular, economic diplomacy was first included as a policy in the 13th National Congress documents, a fundamental and central task of Vietnamese diplomacy, an important driving force for the country's development. To achieve the above achievements, over the past half century, generations of diplomatic officials have always kept in mind five lessons. First , closely following the policies and development guidelines of the Party and State, and the country's reality. Second , put national interests and ethnic interests first and foremost. Third , promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, being sensitive and timely, the more difficult and complicated the situation, the more courageous, calm and persistent. Fourth , promote the combined strength of the pillars of foreign affairs to serve economic diplomacy and national development. Fifth, promote solidarity, unity and unanimity of the entire political system. Along with that is the constant creativity, dedication and efforts to excellently complete the difficult tasks of diplomatic officials to integrate deeply and widely, making the Vietnamese flag fly high and far on the world map as it is today. In the new stage, economic diplomacy has received special attention when most recently, on August 29, at a meeting with key leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Secretary To Lam directed: Economic diplomacy is one of the focuses of diplomacy in the new era, must arouse internal motivation, open up new development prospects, contribute to creating a leap in sustainable economic growth, maintain healthy and stable development of the global economy and respond to new challenges. Not only that, at 10 meetings on economic diplomacy in just over three years, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh repeatedly emphasized: It is necessary to renew thinking, change awareness of economic diplomacy, grasp the regional and world situation, continue to advise the Party and State to develop and implement policies on economic diplomacy. This is a high expectation of the Party and State leaders; at the same time, it makes the implementation of economic diplomacy in the coming time more important. Following the direction of the General Secretary and Prime Minister, economic diplomacy strives to innovate thinking, approaches, and implementation to more effectively support ministries, localities, businesses, and associations; promote economic diplomacy with key partners; develop new forms such as vaccine diplomacy, technology diplomacy, etc. When the world enters a new era of development - the era of artificial intelligence and science and technology - Vietnam will transform itself.
