South Korean national team star arrested in China, suspected of match-fixing

Yonhap news agency reported that Son Jun-ho is being detained by police in China's Liaoning province. An unnamed official at the South Korean Embassy in Beijing said: " We are aware that Son Jun-ho is being detained and questioned by the Liaoning provincial police. A consul in charge of the area is providing necessary consular assistance ."

According to Chinese media, Son Jun-ho and other Shandong Taishan players are being questioned over match-fixing allegations, with head coach Hao Wei being the main suspect. In addition, Chinese media also revealed that Son Jun-ho was arrested on May 12 while on his way to the airport to return to Korea.

In 2020, he was voted the best player of the K-League.
