The Cau Ngu Festival is a traditional festival of fishermen in Thanh Khe District ( Da Nang City), praying for a smooth year for fishermen, "going to their destination safely" and harvesting lots of seafood.

The traditional fishing festival of Thanh Khe district is held from February 27 to February 29, associated with the worship of Whale - the guardian god of the sea of ​​fishermen.

On the morning of February 29, fishermen brought their boats to Da Nang Bay to respond to the fishing festival after the fishing festival.

The elders perform the ritual of worshiping the gods.

This is an annual festival held to commemorate the ancestors who opened the fishing village and the gods who always protect the fishermen's trips to sea. Therefore, this is an important festival and has great significance in the lives of fishermen in the Central region.

Mr. Ho Ngoc Tham (Head of the ritual committee, residing in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City) shared: "The fishing ceremony is a traditional ceremony of fishermen in Thanh Khe District in particular and fishermen in Da Nang in general. This is an important ceremony in the life of coastal people to pray for a year of calm seas, safe fishing for fishermen, and full boats of fish and shrimp. Therefore, every time the festival comes, fishermen are very excited".

The fishing festival has great significance and plays an important role in the lives of coastal people.

The opening ceremony is the solemn Nghinh Than ceremony held in front of Da Nang Bay, the procession is led by the elders, followed by the ceremony to worship and welcome the Nam Hai Thuong Dang Than.

Having been involved in the seafaring profession for more than 30 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen (residing in Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District) said: "Every year, on this occasion, seafarers like me are very excited. Not only do we remember our ancestors who have always protected us on long trips, this is also an opportunity for fishermen to have fun in the early spring, connecting with each other through interesting competitions. We fishermen consider this our festival."

The activities here also bring to the locals and tourists a space for fun and entertainment with competitions featuring the coastal region: net weaving, carrying fish, displaying fruit trays, seafood cuisine , singing Bai Choi, Tuong singing, painting, basket weaving, football, tug of war, and stick pushing.

Ms. Phan Thi An (residing in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City) shared: "Coming here, we got to participate in very interesting activities, everyone was happy and excited."

On this occasion, the festival's Organizing Committee also opened booths displaying documents with the theme "Hoang Sa belongs to Vietnam", booths displaying seafood products and processed products, and booths displaying OCOP products in Da Nang city.
