From 2026, people will have regular health check-ups...
General Secretary To Lam has just signed and issued Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on behalf of the Politburo "On a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health".
One of the contents of the above Resolution that people are particularly interested in and have high expectations for is: "From 2026, people will have regular health check-ups or free screening at least once a year, and will have an electronic health book created to manage their health over their life cycle, gradually reducing the burden of medical costs. By 2030, people will be exempted from basic hospital fees within the scope of health insurance benefits according to the roadmap".
Many people expressed their excitement and joy at this news. Ms. Thuy Ngan, a pregnant woman at Phuong Dong Hospital, shared: "Free annual health check-ups are extremely necessary, especially for postpartum women and young children. After having a cesarean section, I understand even more how important it is to detect health problems early. Free check-ups will help the whole family feel more secure and not worry too much about costs."
Mr. Nguyen Lam Xung (Dong Anh, Hanoi), while taking his child to the Hanoi Eye Hospital for a check-up, also expressed: "Many people in remote areas do not have the conditions to have regular medical check-ups. If they can have free periodic check-ups, they will definitely pay more attention, the disease will be detected earlier, reducing the risk."
For people in difficult circumstances, these policies are even more meaningful. Mr. Long (Dien Bien) said: "I have to take my wife from Dien Bien to Hanoi for a check-up, it's very difficult. If local health care is invested in, has good doctors and organizes free regular check-ups, people like us will have less trouble traveling far away."
The above opinions show that organizing free periodic health check-ups not only helps people feel secure in taking care of themselves, but also contributes to changing habits, encouraging disease prevention rather than treatment, a policy that is both humane and practical.
New steps in improving doctors' lives
In addition to the regulations that directly benefit the people, Resolution 72 also creates new motivation for the grassroots medical staff and preventive medicine - the frontline force in community health care. The most important content is the special and outstanding preferential policy on job allowances, helping to improve income and attract human resources.
Mr. Xung believes this is an important breakthrough: "The education and security sectors already have relatively high allowances, while the health sector has a rather low one. Raising the minimum allowance by 70% for health workers will help them feel secure in their work and stick with their profession."
Sharing the same view, Ms. Tran Thi Huong (Thai Nguyen), who is taking care of her husband at Viet Duc Hospital, expressed: "Investing a lot in healthcare is very welcome, but along with that, I hope that medical staff at the facility will also improve their service attitude and professional quality. When there are good policies, positive changes in patient care will make people more confident."
Opinions from the people show that Resolution 72 is igniting new confidence: patients no longer have to worry about hospital fees, and can get free annual health check-ups; grassroots healthcare is strengthened; medical staff have appropriate incomes and can confidently stick with their jobs.
It can be said that Resolution 72 is not only a health policy, but also an affirmation of the goal of building a healthy, fair and humane society. When the policy comes into life, people's trust in the public health system will be strengthened, creating a solid foundation for the country's sustainable development.
