Born in a poor rural area of Quang Ngai province, Ms. Hoa joined the army, was demobilized, and returned to live and work in block 3, Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city.
Here, she actively participated in local work and held many positions at the grassroots level. With her inherent capacity, combined with her energetic and enthusiastic spirit, in any position, Ms. Vo Thi Kim Hoa always completed the assigned tasks excellently.
After retiring in January 2021, Ms. Hoa was elected by the collective as Deputy Head of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of Nui Thanh District. In her new position, she continues to perform well the tasks assigned by the Association.
With the spirit of not being afraid of hardship, Ms. Hoa and the members of the Nui Thanh Elderly Association Representative Board organized well the mobilization work, building a strong Elderly Association from the district to the grassroots level.
In replicating the model of "Intergenerational Self-Help Club", Ms. Hoa shared, for the happiness of the elderly, I am not afraid of long distances and obstacles, I often go to villages, blocks, and solidarity groups to mobilize the establishment of "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs"; coordinate with departments, branches, fronts, and organizations to create consensus and guide and support the club model to operate effectively.
At the end of 2020, Nui Thanh district (old) had only 2 "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs". Up to now, in 6 new communes (17/17 communes and old towns of Nui Thanh district (old), there are "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs", with a total of 38 clubs and 1,602 members.
The clubs have a total self-mobilized fund of more than 1 billion VND and organize many useful activities.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Huong - former Head of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of Nui Thanh District commented: Ms. Hoa is an energetic and enthusiastic cadre. The achievements of the Elderly Association of Nui Thanh District in general and the "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs" in particular have had the positive contributions of Ms. Hoa personally.
In 2021, Ms. Hoa received a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association; in 2023: a certificate of merit from the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district for her outstanding achievements in the "Elderly age - shining example" movement.
In 2024, she was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association for implementing the "Project to replicate the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs, period up to 2025" and in 2025 received a Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Quang Nam province for excellently completing the tasks in 2024.
Now that the district level no longer exists, Ms. Hoa has returned to live with the neighborhood, continuing to pass on the "youthful fire" to the elderly in the area.
As a veteran, this year Mrs. Hoa turns 59 years old, still optimistic, loves life and is enthusiastic about local movements. She deserves to be an exemplary elderly person studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
