Muong Muon Hydropower Plant officially generates electricity and connects to the national grid

Attending the inauguration ceremony of Muong Muon Hydropower Plant were comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of leaders and people of Muong Cha district, Dien Bien province.

Reporting on the construction and completion process of Muong Muon Hydropower Plant for exploitation and use, the representative of the leader of Dien Bien-Song Hong Energy Joint Stock Company (investor) said: Muong Muon Hydropower Plant was deployed from the second quarter of 2020 with a capacity of 22MW, a total investment of over 793 billion VND, and was built in Na Sang and Ma Thi Ho communes, Muong Cha district, Dien Bien province.

During nearly 5 years of construction, the project faced many difficulties and challenges due to rugged terrain, complex geology, and scattered construction items in the border commune of Muong Muon.

Leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Dien Bien province and representatives of the investor cut the ribbon to inaugurate and put Muong Muon hydropower plant into operation.

At the same time as the factory construction, the Covid-19 pandemic, complicated natural disasters, and fluctuations in raw material prices have greatly affected the project's construction progress.

However, with the great efforts and determination of the investor, general contractor, design unit and construction contractors, together with the attention, leadership and close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee; the active coordination and support of departments, branches and Muong Cha district authorities, the entire plant has been completed and officially put into operation to generate electricity since April 2025.

Putting the plant into operation with an average electricity output of about 79 million kWh/year contributes to ensuring national energy security and improving the capacity of local electricity infrastructure; at the same time, creating more jobs for local workers and increasing budget revenue, serving investment in infrastructure development, education, health and social security, creating a driving force to promote economic restructuring and socio-economic development in the area.

Leaders of Dien Bien province visited the operating system of Muong Muon Hydropower Plant.

Recognizing and praising the efforts of the investor, the construction unit, departments, branches, local Party committees and authorities, especially the support and consensus of the people of Na Sang commune, which have contributed significantly to the project's progress, comrade Le Thanh Do, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, requested the investor, Dien Bien-Song Hong Energy Joint Stock Company, to strictly implement the factory operation process, power grid operation and reservoir operation approved by competent authorities to ensure safety.

During the production and business activities, Dien Bien - Song Hong Energy Joint Stock Company must closely coordinate with management agencies, local authorities and investors of hydropower projects in the same basin in the work of preventing and combating natural disasters, regulating water resources, ensuring safety for works and communities in the area; continue to fulfill social responsibilities in the locality to ensure a harmonious combination of interests of the State, investors and people in the area.
