According to The YOUniverse, the production unit In 2024, the musical Shrek: On National Tour will return to Vietnam with five performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This is The YOUniverse's longest and largest tour to date. Specifically, the musical will take place at the Hoa Binh Theatre (Ho Chi Minh City) from July 12-14; and at the National Convention Center in Hanoi from August 2-3.
According to the organizers, following the success of the 2023 musical Shrek: The Musical , this year The YOUniverse presents a new version called Shrek: On National Tour, marking the third year of bringing Broadway-standard musicals and art closer to young Vietnamese people. This is also a Broadway-standard musical that has been licensed and performed in Vietnam.
In this return, the Shrek musical is on a larger and more spectacular scale, with meticulous investment in scenery and stage design to provide the most visually stunning artistic experience for the public.
Ms. Thanh Le - CEO of The YOUniverse shared: “The number of tickets, over 10,000 at both locations, presented a major challenge because not everyone understands musical theater. Furthermore, our young performers are not famous artists but amateur actors, so the audience had questions and concerns about what it would be like to pay for tickets to see young people whose names they didn't know.”
"But even though they are not professionals, they have passion and have received professional training from experts from abroad, so we are confident that this show will be visually stunning, aurally captivating, and emotionally engaging for the audience."
