Musician Nguyen Ba Hung: Proud and grateful to the soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), musician Nguyen Ba Hung introduces 3 new works: The Epic of the Vietnam Coast Guard (performed by Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung), The Song of the Submarine Soldier (Performed by Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi), and Pride of the Air Force Soldier (Dao Mac).

All songs are arranged by musician Ha Trung, mixed and mastered by musician Pham Hong Bien.

Sharing about the opportunity to compose the epic song of the Vietnam Coast Guard , Nguyen Ba Hung said that during a business trip to Hanoi , he had the opportunity to meet and talk with Colonel Pham Van Tu, Deputy Director of the Military Radio and Television Center. Colonel Pham Van Tu told stories about soldiers, repeating the phrase "the coast guard loves us so much!" which made Hung feel a pain in his heart.

“I tried to learn more to have materials to write the Epic of the Vietnam Coast Guard . I have never been in the army, so stories on this topic are a valuable source of material. Whenever I think of the soldiers who drift day and night at sea to protect the islands and the people, my heart is filled with emotion. In the middle of the ocean, with so many dangers, far from their families, they always work steadfastly, becoming a solid support for the people. I hope I will have many opportunities to go to the islands to continue writing songs to encourage the soldiers' spirit,” the musician confided.

Musician Nguyen Ba Hung felt that among the combat forces, the submarine force was extremely difficult, requiring strict selection to select comrades with suitable health, then having to train for many years abroad. When returning to the work unit, one had to stick close to the unit, and could only return home after a long time.

Therefore, the families and comrades working in this force also lack emotional support. However, with the role and responsibility of a glorious soldier, they always complete all tasks excellently, silently protecting the Fatherland from the depths of the ocean. Understanding and loving, the male musician composed the Song of the Submarine Soldier for them.

“Under the ocean, day and night. Homesickness is also the spiritual motivation and goal for them to work. Always maintain the country's sovereignty and promise to return to their loved ones,” said Nguyen Ba Hung.

When completing the song Proud of the Air Force Soldier , musician Nguyen Ba Hung shared: “When flying in the sky, looking through the window, the scenery moves very slowly, but when looking from the ground, the plane flies very fast. Maybe we fly commercially so the minutes sitting on the plane are boring. But for air force soldiers, flying in the sky are moments of sacred duty, contributing to protecting the peace of the beautiful homeland.”

Coming to composing quite late, musician Nguyen Ba Hung (born in 1987, from Ha Tinh) always tries to find his own path. His greatest desire is to write about history, the people who silently sacrificed and contributed to the Fatherland.
