| Many areas of Yang Mao commune were deeply flooded. |
In Yang Mao commune, heavy rain caused a household to be deeply flooded and had to be evacuated on November 17. Currently, many roads have strong currents, making it impossible for vehicles to pass; some low-lying houses are nearly 2 meters deep in water. The commune is maintaining a 24/7 response force. In Buon Tong Rang B and Yang Hanh hamlet alone, nearly a dozen households were deeply flooded and were urgently evacuated on the evening of November 16.
In Krong Bong commune, heavy rains caused landslides in many places. Local authorities have put up warning lines, prohibited people from going to dangerous areas and prepared plans to evacuate people. Food and necessities have been stockpiled to support households that may be isolated.
According to the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, it is forecasted that from noon on November 17 to noon on November 19, the communes/wards in the East of the province will continue to have heavy to very heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 150 - 300 mm, with some places over 350 mm. The West of the province will have moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 50 - 100 mm, with some places over 150 mm. The risk level of natural disasters due to heavy rain is at level 1.
Due to heavy rain, the flood situation on rivers is developing very quickly, potentially causing flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas and a high risk of landslides in areas with steep terrain and weak geological foundation. Authorities and people need to closely monitor the development of rain and floods in the next bulletins, beware of dangerous weather phenomena and proactively respond to ensure safety.
Also on the morning of November 17, Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, directly inspected flooded areas and requested that lakes and dams in the area strictly control their operating procedures to prevent flood-on-flood situations.
Previously, on November 16, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 217/CD-TTg requesting provinces from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa to proactively respond to floods.
The Prime Minister requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct the review, inspection, and timely detection of areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding to proactively evacuate and relocate residents. Localities need to deploy work to ensure dam safety; proactively direct the scientific and reasonable operation of irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs.
At the same time, deploy forces to control and guide traffic; based on the specific situation, decide to let students stay home from school and limit people and vehicles traveling in dangerous areas. The Prime Minister also assigned specific tasks to the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment, Construction, Industry and Trade, National Defense, Public Security and relevant agencies to prepare plans to support localities.
