On the journey of innovation, Quang Ninh literature and art is like a large stream, merging into the strong flow of Vietnamese literature and art, with works inspired by the times, the voice of the soul emerging from the reality of life in the Mining Region, creating proud milestones.
Quang Ninh is a fertile land of literature and art, the cradle of workers' literature, a place where cultural traditions converge with the vibrant life of a coal industry region. Since the 80s of the last century, the vivid reality of the literary and artistic creation movement in Quang Ninh at that time required an award for artists of the Mining Region, to honor their works and further promote the literary and artistic movement of the province. Thus, the Ha Long Literature and Arts Award was born.
1981 was the first Ha Long Literature and Arts Award for works from the period 1975-1980. Up to now, the Ha Long Literature and Arts Award has gone through 9 awarding periods, periodically every 5 years, to promote the province's literary and artistic creation movement, honoring the works and achievements of artists and writers for Quang Ninh province.
Along with the Ha Long Literature and Arts Award honoring outstanding authors and works, since 1985, the Provincial People's Committee has decided to confer the title of Mining Artist to those who have made many contributions to the field of literature and arts and considered awarding it for the first time in 1986 with 10 honored artists. With these two noble awards, Quang Ninh is the first province in the country to have an award honoring literature and arts, honoring artists.
Poet Tran Nhuan Minh, former Chairman of the Quang Ninh Literature and Arts Association, said: The Quang Ninh Literature and Arts Association is the first association in the country to propose to the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to organize the Ha Long Literature and Arts Award. Up to now, over 40 provinces and cities in the country have had similar awards, all learning from the experience of Quang Ninh. This also shows the early attention of the provincial leaders to the province's artists.
Since 1988, Quang Ninh has had Quang Ninh Poetry Day, the Le Thanh Tong Poetry Award is held annually and has been maintained to this day. The idea of Quang Ninh Poetry Day is also a suggestion for the Vietnam Writers Association to organize Vietnam Poetry Day later. Currently, in addition to the provincial Literature and Arts Award, localities have also had the Tran Nhan Tong Literature and Arts Award (Uong Bi City) and the Vo Huy Tam Literature and Arts Award (Cam Pha City).
It is a matter of pride that in the State Prize for Literature and Arts, through 5 award ceremonies, Quang Ninh has had 6 outstanding representatives honored, including: Late writer Vo Huy Tam, late writer Ly Bien Cuong, poet Tran Nhuan Minh, writer Duong Huong, musician Le Dang Ve and musician Do Hoa An.
Quang Ninh also has 4 artists who have achieved Vietnamese records. The late coal sculptor Nguyen Tam Nham achieved the record of the person who carved the most charcoal statues of the famous painter Picasso in Vietnam with 56 works. Poet Tran Nhuan Minh with the work The poet and flowers achieved the record of the most reprinted poetry collection of the renovation period in the whole country. And the father and son artist Do Kha - the person who took the most black and white photos of Ha Long Bay, artist Do Giang - the person who took the most photos of Ha Long Bay from above.
The achievements and milestones on the past journey show the creative efforts of the team of people working in the field of literature and arts in the face of the vivid reality of life, reflecting the strong changes of the Mining Region, and are abundant materials to create literary and artistic works with inspiration for innovation and creativity, identity and integration, keeping pace with the new era, ready to enter the era of national development.
