Sharing love from "kind arms"

The program was started in 2009 with funding from the contributions of the company's employees to share the financial burden with many workers undergoing medical treatment. Each story shared, each heart extended to help demonstrates the power of humanity in the enterprise.

Sowing seeds of hope

During 20 years of working at Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd., Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Thu always tried to complete her work and get along with her colleagues. In early 2025, after a health check-up, Ms. Thu discovered that she had kidney failure. Mentally depressed and with high treatment costs, there were times when Ms. Thu fell into despair. Understanding her situation, the grassroots Union visited, encouraged and supported her with nearly 47 million VND from the Compassionate Arms Program so that she could have more money for treatment.

Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Thu emotionally said: After 2 decades of working with the company, she is very secure because of the job as well as the guaranteed policies. During that time, she participated in fundraising campaigns to help many cases overcome serious illnesses. When she herself was sick, she received the love of her colleagues and the grassroots Trade Union.

“I am touched because I have received love in return for giving love. Thank you to the grassroots union and the company's employees who have always been there to support me in regaining my spirit and giving me peace of mind while I receive treatment,” Ms. Thu confided.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu, who worked at the company before, also suffered from kidney failure and had to undergo dialysis 3 times a week. In the despair of his illness, Mr. Tu regained his confidence when the Union stood by him and encouraged him. Also from the Compassionate Arms Program, Mr. Tu received nearly 50 million VND in support for his treatment. In May 2025, he was fortunate to have a kidney transplant and was healthy enough to return to work at the company and continue his career.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu said: The Compassionate Arms Program established by the Company's Union is extremely meaningful and humane, not only containing love and humanity but also bringing many values of life to sick people. He himself feels lucky to work at the company and become a Union member. He hopes that the program will spread more and more so that many workers who are unfortunately suffering from serious illnesses will receive timely support to overcome adversity, live a happy life, and be useful to society.

In addition to Ms. Thu and Mr. Tu, there are many cases of workers who seemed to have reached a dead end when they discovered a serious illness but were able to recover with the spirit and will from the arms of the Union and the collective of workers. It is the timely support that has fueled, motivated and empowered many union members to overcome difficulties.

Chairman of the Trade Union of Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. Dang Tuan Tu said: The program of Compassionate Arms originated from the sympathy for workers who have difficulties due to illness, from which the Trade Union built this program to share the burden for workers during the treatment process. After 47 times of organization, up to now the program has supported nearly 500 union members and workers with serious illnesses with money for treatment with an amount of nearly 20 billion VND. On average, each worker with a serious illness receives about 40 million VND.

“Although the amount is not large, it is the heart of all employees in the company sharing with each other, because the collective of employees are people in a common family. It is the Compassionate Arms that brings material support, giving more strength to live for those in difficult circumstances. Through that, it shows the sympathy, sharing and spirit of mutual love of the company collective” - Mr. Tu shared.

Not only stopping at immediate relief, Compassionate Arms also aims at sustainable development for those receiving support.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang, a worker who has been involved with the Compassionate Arms Program for 8 years, said: She joined the program because she saw that it brought many humane values, where humanity is spread more and connections are wide. Every month, she takes a little of her salary to support the program with the hope that many situations at the company will be supported promptly.

According to Mr. Dang Tuan Tu, the work of caring for the lives of union members and workers is included in the annual key tasks of the Company's Union Executive Committee. In particular, special attention is paid to workers in difficult circumstances and those with serious illnesses. In addition to the Compassionate Arms Program, the Union implements programs such as: Building a Union shelter, visiting workers in boarding houses, organizing traditional Tet for workers who are ethnic minorities, giving gifts to workers building new houses... From now until the end of 2025, the Union will focus on many peak care activities as well as negotiating with the company a satisfactory Tet bonus, creating motivation for workers to complete the company's production and business plans.
