These application letters – the "manifesto" of youth
Hoang Duc Manh (born in 2000), a graduate of the National Economics University, born and raised in Na Ray hamlet, Trung Khanh commune, Cao Bang province, decided to return to his hometown and volunteer to join the army.
In his application, Mạnh wrote: "I was born, raised, and educated in a peaceful environment of the country; with the guidance of my family and teachers, I have understood that the duty of young people and the civic obligation is to participate in military service and contribute my small part to the country…"
There was no specific call to arms, no pressure from anyone, just a simple urge from the heart, a deep awareness of civic responsibility and a desire to live a meaningful life. Manh is one of many young people in Trung Khanh commune who continue the revolutionary tradition of their homeland, viewing enlistment as a sacred honor.

In Le Loi commune, Lai Chau province, a place of pristine mountains and forests where life is still difficult, the "wave" of volunteer enlistment is spreading rapidly. In a short time, five outstanding young men have voluntarily submitted applications to join the army: Lo Tuan Khang, Lo Chi Huy, Lo Van Thuong, Pan Van Duc, and Lo Van Vuong.
Those simple names now carry the hopes and pride of the entire village. In their humble yet resolute words, they affirmed: "We are ready to go and defend the Fatherland when the Fatherland needs us. We are shining examples for the youth in our village and commune to follow."
The flame ignited by the first petitioners spread powerfully, inspiring many other young people in the community to reflect on themselves and look towards the noble ideals that generations before them had pursued. The saying, "Wherever youth are needed, youth will be there; whatever is difficult, youth will overcome it," which seemed like just a slogan, is now being realized through the concrete actions of young people in the highlands.

On the morning of October 3, 2025, at the preliminary military conscription examination point, the atmosphere became somber when a young man emotionally said: "Wearing the soldier's uniform has been my dream since I was a child. My father is a veteran who fought on the northern border. I want to follow in his footsteps, protect the Fatherland, and safeguard the border." His childhood dream has now become a serious decision in his life.
As of early October 2025, Moc Son ward had received 10 applications from young people volunteering for military service and People's Public Security service. This number speaks volumes, clearly affirming the proactive, enthusiastic, and voluntary spirit of today's youth.

The mark of patriotism
The recruitment and conscription of citizens into the military is an annual task for each locality. But more than just an administrative procedure, it is an opportunity for the entire community to reflect on the patriotism and social responsibility of the younger generation. Volunteer enlistment applications are not only a milestone marking a new journey for each individual, but also a continuation of tradition, a connecting thread between the past, present, and future.
It is often said, "military service is a mandatory responsibility." But when young people proactively volunteer to fulfill this duty through applications, it is no longer just a simple obligation, but a vivid expression of patriotism and civic responsibility.
