Gas tank explosion at restaurant, 9 teachers and students burned

While sitting in a restaurant, a mini gas stove on the table suddenly exploded, causing many teachers and students to be burned, including one case that had to be taken to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment.

On the afternoon of January 12, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Long An province said that a mini gas tank exploded in a restaurant where a teacher and students in Tan Thanh district were eating, many cases had to be taken to the hospital. Currently, the Departmentof Education and Training of the district is coordinating with the authorities to monitor and decide how to handle the situation.

At around 1:00 p.m. the same day, after the end of the Tan Thanh district children's spring festival, the Bac Hoa commune school delegation of 18 people went to Yagami food restaurant, Tan Thanh town to eat and drink before returning to school.

Because there were so many people, the group divided into 2 tables sitting close together. While using the gas stove to cook hot pot, suddenly the mini gas tank in the stove exploded. This incident burned 9 people, including 2 teachers and 7 students.

Immediately afterwards, the remaining teachers and the restaurant owner quickly took 4 injured people to Tan Thanh Hospital, including 3 students and 1 teacher; 1 student was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital; 4 mild cases did not require hospitalization.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh town added that immediately after the incident, the authorities and the police were present to clarify the matter. "We are continuing to monitor the case of the student with severe burns to coordinate the solution," said the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training.
