At 10:10 AM on March 30th, Xiamen Airlines flight MF8697, departing from Fuzhou (China), landed at Noi Bai International Airport, officially marking the inauguration of the regular international route connecting Fuzhou and Hanoi . Noi Bai International Airport held a water cannon salute ceremony – a solemn ritual in civil aviation reserved for inaugural flights or special events.
The opening ceremony was held at Terminal 2 with the participation of representatives from both sides: Mr. Hoang Thanh Quang, Deputy Director of Noi Bai International Airport; Mr. Trinh Thieu Hong, Vice President of the Chinese Business Association in Vietnam; representatives from Xiamen Airlines and related units.
Flight MF8697 carried 25 representatives from Vietnamese travel companies on a tourism survey trip to Fujian Province. This is expected to be the starting point for new tourism programs, contributing to increasing two-way tourist flows between Vietnam and China.

The Fuzhou-Hanoi route is operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a frequency of 4 round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The flight time is approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes, significantly shortening travel time compared to traditional connecting flights.
The launch of the new flight route not only plays a crucial role in strengthening connectivity between the two regions, but also holds special significance in the context of 2025 marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.
On its journey of integration and development, routes like Hanoi-Fuzhou continue to affirm the role of Noi Bai International Airport as a key international aviation gateway in the north, constantly expanding its connectivity network and improving passenger service quality, making a positive contribution to economic development, tourism, and international cooperation.
Noi Bai International Airport currently serves an average of 550 flights per day, with approximately 90,000 passengers, of which nearly 50% are international passengers. In 2024, the airport served over 30 million passengers and is continuing to expand its flight network, improve service quality, and ensure absolute safety in operations.
