Taking advantage of favorable weather, farmers in localities in Ha Tinh are simultaneously going to the fields to plow the land, preparing conditions for planting the 2024 spring rice crop according to the crop calendar.

For many days now, Mr. Hoang Van Thong's family in Phuc Truong village, Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc) has focused on renting land preparation machines, mobilizing human resources to go to the fields to build banks, bring water into the fields, and start the 2024 spring crop.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Thong, the spring crop is the main crop, so farmers are eager and carefully prepare from the land preparation stage, hoping for a bumper crop. In addition to their own land, his family also borrows and rents fields from households that have land but do not need to produce in the area, increasing the family's spring crop area to over 6 hectares. According to the crop calendar, planting will begin in nearly 10 days, so at this time the family is rushing to complete the land preparation and fertilization steps in the fields.

In the spring crop of 2024, Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc) strives to plant 946 hectares of rice.

Along with Mr. Hoang Van Thong's family, farmers in Kim Song Truong commune are currently eagerly going to the fields to speed up the land preparation process.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of Kim Song Truong Commune People's Committee said: "This spring crop, the whole commune planted 946 hectares of rice of all kinds. Implementing the policy of land accumulation, this crop the commune has consolidated land, increasing the concentrated production area to 290 hectares. Currently, the locality is completing the process of redistributing land and mobilizing people to work the land, prepare to sow according to the crop schedule, striving for a successful crop in terms of productivity and quality."

It is known that in the spring crop of 2024, the whole district organized the planting of 9,167 hectares, of which more than 5,900 hectares were concentrated production. To limit risks in production, the district has directed communes to structure one variety to more than 30% of the sowing and planting area and to select suitable varieties depending on terrain, ecological and soil conditions. Mr. Dang Hoa Binh - Head of Operation Management Department, Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited said: "The company currently manages and operates 33 reservoirs, 4 dams, 1 sluice to prevent saltwater intrusion, 438 km of intra-field canals and more than 1,000 irrigation sluices in the districts of Ky Anh, Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Huong Khe, Ky Anh Town and Ha Tinh City. Since October, 16 clusters and stations under the company have arranged maximum human resources to organize intra-field irrigation, creating conditions to supply irrigation water for 22,000 hectares of spring rice crop 2024. Accordingly, many tasks are being accelerated such as: weeding canal banks, collecting waste, animal carcasses, and rocks remaining in the canal to avoid causing flow congestion; dredging the canal and reinforcing and maintaining degraded areas... The unit strives to complete 100% of the workload in 1 week, starting to open water to serve people planting spring rice".

According to Mr. Phan Van Huan - Head of Cultivation Department, Ha Tinh Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, in the spring crop of 2024, the whole province strives to plant 59,107 hectares of rice.

To achieve the set targets of output (estimated at 342,000 tons) and productivity (estimated at over 57.92 quintals/ha), localities need to speed up the progress of land preparation and irrigation in the fields to serve production, ensuring the sowing time frame (from January 5, 2024 to February 8, 2024). Accordingly, it is necessary to strengthen the banks and land banks to retain water; apply balanced and correct technical procedures for inorganic fertilizers, make the most of organic fertilizers, and add biological products to increase the ability to decompose organic matter in the soil.
