Designer Le Minh Phu launches the "Origin" collection inspired by the reformed theater

Sharing his ideas for launching a fashion collection with a "traditional" feel, designer Le Minh Phu said: "Cai Luong is a traditional theatrical art form, a cultural and artistic product that originated and developed in the Southern region of Vietnam. Initially, Cai Luong gradually replaced Hat Boi on the Southern stage. The shift in the reception of theatrical art in the South was quite strong in the 1920s. The Cai Luong stage was born from the socio -economic and cultural rhythm of life, and at the same time met the aesthetic tastes of the public. That is why Le Minh Phu wants to guide fashion enthusiasts back to the 'Roots' of its creation to reminisce about national culture."

Speaking about Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera), fashion designer Le Minh Phu shared: "As someone who loves Cai Luong, a genre rich in Southern Vietnamese identity, I find it captivating not only to me but also to millions of Vietnamese people. This art form is not just about the stage with its dazzling lights, beautiful actors and actresses, and skillful singing and acting; it's also about life itself. The stage reflects life through its own aesthetic sensibilities, its joys, sorrows, loves, and hates. Because it touches the hearts of the audience, it possesses a powerful vitality throughout all ages."

Since its inception, Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) has traversed nearly a century of connection with the public in Southern Vietnam in particular, and Vietnam in general. In the past, Cai Luong held a unique position, beloved and adored by the people of Southern Vietnam. Amidst the whirlwind of diverse cultural and artistic markets, the Cai Luong stage still holds its own special place in the hearts of its audience.

Given this situation, designer Le Minh Phu wants to contribute to preserving and promoting the art of traditional Vietnamese opera in general and traditional costumes in particular. And fortunately, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival features the traditional costume of Chang'e, imbued with the spirit of traditional culture and connected to "The Origins." Lecturer and designer Le Minh Phu is honored to have been invited by the organizers of the "Moonlight Festival" to showcase his traditional costume collection titled "The Origins."

The "Origins" collection tells the story of a wealthy and compassionate couple who always help people in difficult circumstances and those suffering from serious illnesses. One day, the wife witnesses social injustice and speaks out to expose the crimes… After the truth is revealed, she returns to her life of dedication and sharing love with others.

Fashion designer Le Minh Phu is currently a lecturer in the field of Fashion Design.

Le Minh Phu designed two costumes inspired by the character Yang Guifei in the play "The Trial of Yang Guifei," which were showcased and highly praised at his graduation defense at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and at the 38th Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day at Cuu Long University, alongside a collection by designer Quynh Paris.

- 2018-2020: Worked at Vietsun Investment Joint Stock Company.

- In 2020, Le Minh Phu's costumes were showcased in the "Sharing the Mekong River" program and the 7th Southeast Asian Cultural Exchange in Binh Duong province.

- From 2020 to present: Lecturer in Fashion Design at Dong An High-Tech College.

- In 2021: A coach from the WSUN Women's Entrepreneurship Network, she shared valuable insights about the fashion design industry for entrepreneurs.

- 2022:

+ Received a certificate of commendation from Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh for his positive contributions to the Cultural and Artistic Exchange Program commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea in 2022.

+ Designed costumes for special excerpts from Vietnamese Cai Luong opera, such as the costumes for Luc Van Tien and Tu Thu Te Chau performed by the renowned Tan Co artist Hung Vuong.

+ Received a certificate of merit for successfully completing tasks in the 2021-2022 academic year from Dong An High-Tech College.

- In 2023, he was an advisor for the Scrap of Jeans - Make Advantage program.
