Female commune accountant embezzled more than 2.6 billion VND from the budget

Lao Cai Provincial Police have just prosecuted and temporarily detained Pham Thi Mai (41 years old, residing in Nam Luc commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province), a financial officer and accountant of Nam Luc commune, to investigate the act of violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences.

Previously, Lao Cai Provincial Police handled a case showing signs of violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences at the People's Committee of Nam Luc commune.

During the investigation, Lao Cai Provincial Police determined that Pham Thi Mai, accountant of the People's Committee of Nam Luc Commune, was assigned to prepare documents for settlement of funds from the State budget.

For personal gain, Mai made false declarations and created fake invoices and documents to withdraw money from the State budget of the People's Committee of Nam Luc commune, spending more than 2.6 billion VND in violation of the law.

In which, Mai benefited over 300 million VND without entering it into the cash fund of the Commune People's Committee as prescribed but spent it on personal expenses contrary to the law.

Initial determination, female accountant of Nam Luc Commune People's Committee caused damage to the state budget of over 300 million VND.
