Coming from a farming family in Van Chan district, Yen Bai province - where most of the ethnic minorities live, despite limited educational conditions, Nguyen Thi Quynh Toan is still one of two female students in Khe Ria village, Cat Thinh commune, who have the opportunity to attend university.
Becoming a student of the 9th course of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications, Vietnam Women's Academy, Quynh Toan has inspired many other students, not only by her good academic achievements but also by her enthusiasm in participating in extracurricular activities.
Efforts to bridge the gap
Quynh Toan shared: "My starting point was lower than that of my classmates, this made me have to try harder to shorten the gap."
Recently, in the student startup competition, Quynh Toan's startup idea with Shan Tuyet tea won the Encouragement prize.
In studying, Quynh Toan tries hard to achieve the best results.
The startup model that Toan chose was to sell premium tea for tea connoisseurs. Toan shared that she thought of a unique form, combining famous tea with the culture, simplicity, and sophistication of the Northwest mountains. Customers not only enjoy tea but also directly participate in the journey to discover the culture imbued with the identity of the highlands.
With Shan Tuyet tea ingredients from hundreds of years old tea trees, each cup of tea will be a moment of relaxation, helping people temporarily leave the hustle and bustle of life and immerse themselves in the peaceful beauty of nature.
Besides, in the contest "Gender stereotypes of the 4.0 era", Toan demonstrated her ability because the image of an independent - confident - self-sufficient woman with her own life is what Toan always aims for. To present convincingly in front of a large audience, Toan had to practice the presentation many times, as well as do her performance over and over again to achieve the best results.
Passion for sports
Not only studying well, Toan also actively participates in school sports tournaments and has achieved many achievements: Silver medal in mixed doubles at the student badminton tournament, Silver medal in women's soccer tournament...
Toan believes that playing sports is also a way to break down the default barrier that this is a sport only for men. Since childhood, she has been passionate about football and challenges her limits by trying her best every time she plays this sport.
On the field, Quynh Toan (kicking the ball) plays with all his might.
She is a petite girl but on the field, she plays with all her might, not afraid of getting dirty with mud.
Many times, her friends felt sorry for Toan when she got injured while playing badminton or soccer. But for Toan, the injuries were the motivation for her to try harder in her journey to pursue the sport she loved...
Quynh Toan believes that no matter what field you are involved in, you must take it seriously to achieve worthy results. "I am not the best version of myself right now" - this thought also helps Toan strive to accumulate knowledge, improve herself and not give up when facing difficulties.
