
On October 16, at the press conference launching the 2nd APEC Innovation Student Startup Ideas Competition organized by the APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Institute, Mr. Le Cong Luong, Head of the Science, Technology and Environment Department, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, commented: "The Student Startup Ideas Competition is a very meaningful activity contributing to bringing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation into life. The competition has created great motivation, encouraging students to be confident on the path of creativity and entrepreneurship. The combination of Institutes - schools - businesses - students... is the premise for research projects and creative ideas to be nurtured, given opportunities to develop, and put into practice in life".
Mr. Tran Duy Khanh, Director of the APEC Institute for Entrepreneurship Research and Training, informed: "The purpose of the Student Creative Startup Ideas Competition is to promote the spirit of creative entrepreneurship among students of universities and colleges nationwide and Vietnamese students studying abroad; promote intellectual potential, creative thinking, new thinking, dynamism, and aspirations of students, the future owners of the country in building and defending the country; promote the spirit of confidence, initiative, and creativity in students. At the same time, honor creative startup ideas; connect entrepreneurs, businesses, investment funds... to join hands to support students in realizing creative, unique, and potential startup ideas in production, business, and participate in national and international startup competitions... At the same time, incubate, develop, perfect, and realize creative, unique startup ideas into successful startup projects. At the same time, create an environment for students to form and realize startup ideas; create connections between schools, students with domestic and foreign businesses and entrepreneurs".
According to the Organizing Committee, the participants of the Competition include: Students, student groups from universities and colleges at home and abroad who have creative startup ideas with ideas about products/technology/services/solutions... (except for projects that have won prizes in national and international startup competitions...). Students can participate in the Competition as individuals or teams or be introduced by universities and colleges.
The fields of participation in the contest include: Agriculture, forestry, fishery, resources, environment, climate change response, clean water; industry, new technology, biotechnology, food technology, manufacturing technology, energy, mechanics, construction; medical field, health care, beauty technology; services, finance, tourism, labor, employment; education... The contest encourages ideas that contribute to promoting digital transformation, green economy , circular economy.
Previously, the Competition was held for the first time, receiving 1,192 startup ideas from more than thousands of students from 81 universities and colleges across the country. The ideas were spread across 5 fields such as: Health care; Agriculture, forestry and fisheries; Industry, technology; Tourism financial services; Education . Of which, 29 best teams won the award categories.
After the competition, the winning teams had private meetings with the Organizing Committee, the Jury and the Sponsors to receive advice on developing ideas and support in resolving difficulties and obstacles in the journey of turning ideas into real projects brought to market.
At the 2nd APEC Innovation Competition with the message “Unleash startup ideas”, the teams will be guided and trained right from the process of finding ideas and implementing presentations. The winning teams will have the opportunity to approach, meet and learn from the experiences of businessmen and investors in international markets such as the US, Australia, etc.
