Tourists enjoy the experience of harvesting mangoes at The Mango Trail Farmstay (My Xuong commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province).

In recent times, with very unique tourism products such as: visiting Sa Dec Flower Village, exploring the pink grapefruit garden in Lai Vung, experiencing the lotus field in Thap Muoi, visiting Cao Lanh mango garden, creating attraction and good impression in the hearts of many tourists near and far.

However, to "keep" tourists staying longer in the locality, Dong Thap's agricultural tourism still needs many innovations.

Ms. Ho Thi Thu Thuy - owner of The Mango Trail Farmstay (My Xuong commune, Cao Lanh district), said: "Many tourists choose to come to The Mango Trail Farmstay to relax and "heal" after tiring working hours in big cities. This choice is becoming a trend for many tourists and this is an opportunity for agricultural tourism in our hometown to develop.

To better serve this tourist segment, in addition to ensuring food, accommodation, sleep, and entertainment services, it is also necessary to develop diverse and professional connecting service products. However, to do this, there needs to be deeper connections between tourist destinations and local people...”.

Sharing about solutions for sustainable agricultural tourism development in Dong Thap, Mr. Ngo Quoc Khang - Advisor to the Taiwan - China Farm Tourism Development Association said that in order to develop more sustainable agricultural tourism, farmers need to shift from purely agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic development thinking.

Developing agricultural tourism is not simply about selling tickets or having more opportunities to consume fruits in the garden, but farmers need to change their perspective from tourists to understand customer needs in order to optimize services.

In addition, it is necessary to regularly update new knowledge about the tourism sector to grasp trends and make better adjustments in service provision. To "retain" tourists, tourist areas and destinations need to increase the development of highly experiential products and services, aiming at value-added solutions, sharing experiences on farming secrets to attract and impress tourists.

Especially in agricultural production or tourism service development, linkage is always a top priority...
