In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Tru - Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, term IV, emphasized that the Congress is an important milestone in the process of building and developing the Association, a professional social organization that brings together individuals and organizations operating in the field of cultural heritage.

The Association has the mission of gathering, protecting the interests of members, promoting research, preserving and promoting heritage values, contributing to the development of Vietnamese culture and the world heritage treasure. The congress took place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh signing the first Decree on the preservation of cultural heritage and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, which further enhanced its special significance.

Reporting at the Congress, Dr. Nguyen The Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of the Association, said that the fourth term (2020-2025) faced many difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19, changes in administrative models and natural disasters in some localities. However, the Association still maintained effective operations, organized and coordinated many seminars and discussions on policy mechanisms, heritage value identification, heritage communication and education , as well as heritage protection associated with sustainable development.

The Association and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund actively participate in major industry events, implementing many outstanding activities such as the program "Innovation and conservation of heritage in the digital world", signing a heritage communication cooperation agreement with Tiktok, organizing heritage painting exhibitions and displaying digital treasures. Consulting, criticism, communication and Association building activities continue to develop, expanding the scope of influence and strengthening connections with relevant agencies and organizations.

However, the report also pointed out some limitations in the information reporting regime between the grassroots and the Central level which is not unified; the operational efficiency of some Association organizations is still low; the development speed of Association organizations at the provincial and city levels is not uniform.

These will be the issues that the Association will set out to overcome in the coming term, aiming to build a more united and professional organization, meeting the requirements of preserving and promoting cultural heritage values in the new context.
