According to the draw results in the early morning of December 6, Portugal is in group K, along with Uzbekistan, Colombia and the winner of the play-off between the Republic of Congo, Jamaica or New Caledonia.

Despite appreciating the chance to continue, coach Roberto Martinez remains modest when talking about his team's strength. He said: "The teams that have won the World Cup are really the top candidates in this year's tournament. I think Portugal has made important steps forward. We are full of confidence and excitement for the upcoming tournament. The goal is to do something that Portuguese football has never done before."

When asked about Ronaldo's role at the 2026 World Cup, the former Everton coach shared: "The desire to help Ronaldo become a role model for every player. He is the captain, an example and a very important factor in the team."

With a balanced force and the extensive experience of Ronaldo, the top scorer in history with 143 goals, Portugal aims to top Group K.

If this happens, with Argentina also topping Group J, Ronaldo and Messi will have the opportunity to face each other in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup. This is definitely a battle that the whole world is looking forward to.

The 2026 World Cup also marks the sixth time both Messi and Ronaldo have participated in the tournament, an unprecedented record in history.

The moment Ronaldo teased the Irish player Cristiano Ronaldo's act of teasing Irish player Nathan Collins caused him to be criticized in Portugal's 0-2 defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the early morning of November 14.
