Developing Danang golf tourism into one of the key products

This is the third consecutive year that the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 has been organized by the city with the desire to make golf tourism one of the key products, anticipating and meeting the needs of golf resorts, affirming its position as a leading attractive golf tourism destination in Asia.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 officially took place from August 29 to 31 at Legend Danang Golf Resort with the participation of 144 domestic and international golfers. Accordingly, the total prize fund is up to 100,000 USD.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City, hosting the tournament consecutively for 3 years 2022-2023-2024 contributes to affirming Da Nang's position as "Asia's leading event and festival destination".

At the same time, it is an important milestone in developing local golf into one of the leading golf tourism destinations in Asia and the world, contributing to promoting the development of high-quality tourism in line with the city's tourism development orientation.

During the 2 years of organization, the tournament has attracted more than 4,000 spectators who are fans of this sport, domestic and international golf tourists watching live at BRG course; nearly 50,000 people watched the program live on fanpage, youtube,... In particular, the tournament attracts many high-end tourists with high spending.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 is part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) system of the Asian Tour, organized in the stroke play format over 3 rounds of 18 holes (total 54 holes) on Nicklaus Course in the Legend Danang Golf Resort system.

After 36 holes, there is a cut and only the top 50 players and ties are allowed to continue. The winner is the player with the lowest gross score at the end of the tournament.

Among the nearly 144 athletes participating in this year's tournament, Vietnam has 20 representatives, including 8 professional golfers and 12 amateur golfers with impressive achievements.

This year's tournament also brings together outstanding international golfers who have achieved great success in major professional golf tournaments in the regional and world arenas such as: Rahil Gangjee (India), Khalin Joshi (India), Ahmad Baig (Pakistan), Natipong Srithong (Thailand), Kosuke Hamamoto (Thailand), Runchanapong Youprayong (Thailand).

Mr. Ken Kudo, General Director of Asian Golf Development Tournament, shared that at the end of Season 1 and Season 2 of BRG Open Golf Championship Danang, the two champions, Chen Guxin and Aaron Wilkin, reached the top 10 of the ADT OOM rankings. This helped them advance to the next season of the prestigious Asian Tour, proving the importance of the tournament to the careers of promising professional golfers.

“This year’s event once again plays an important role in promoting Da Nang as a tourism and golf destination, and is a platform to inspire young Vietnamese golfers to pursue their dreams of becoming famous professional golfers,” said Mr. Ken Kudo.

The tournament organizers added that in addition to the official tournament BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024, within the framework of the event, there are many other attractive activities such as: golfer welcome party, professional - amateur golf exchange tournament (Pro - Ams) and Da Nang tourism experience program.

With the advantage of owning many high-class golf courses in the region along with the strong development of golf tourism in key international markets, Da Nang determines the important position of golf tourism in the strategy of specialized market segmentation.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the total number of golf rounds of 3 golf courses in Da Nang reached 98,703 rounds, an increase of more than 4,700 rounds compared to the same period in 2023, Legend Danang Golf Resort course dominated with more than 66,320 rounds.
