Movie about AI domination starring Ngo Thanh Van is about to hit Vietnamese theaters

The movie 'The Creator' was filmed in many Southeast Asian countries, with the participation of action star Ngo Thanh Van, and is about to premiere in Vietnam.

The main character of The Creator is Joshua ( John David Washington ) - an American soldier working undercover in Asia. He is separated from his wife Maya (Gemma Chan) during an attack. Thinking she is dead, Joshua has a mental breakdown and decides to return to America.

Five years later, he is called back to active duty by the military after learning that an AI has created a weapon that could turn the tide of war. Joshua must destroy the weapon to prevent the destruction of humanity.

An emotional story about the meaning of life in "The Creator"

The Creator is directed by Gareth Edwards - who directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and Godzilla (2014) .

He cites Joseph Campbell's novel The Hero with a Thousand Faces and Francis Ford Coppola's classic Vietnam War film Apocalypse Now as inspirations for the world -building in The Creator.

"My childhood was filled with classic blockbusters in theaters. Many of them were so overwhelming to me as a kid, I wanted to go out and give that same experience to others," Edwards said.

In this film, we went to the Himalayas, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand… and did crazy epic scenes, combined with an emotional journey that the characters had to go through."

In addition to the eye-catching visuals, The Creator is also a story full of contemplation about philosophy of life, the meaning of life and existence, pointing out what makes the difference between humans and machines.

To make the film, the production crew traveled more than 10,000 miles to 80 different locations in eight countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Japan, Indonesia, the UK (at Pinewood Studios outside London) and the US (in Los Angeles).

Filmmakers try to visually imagine what these places will look like in 30 or 40 years and recreate that on screen.

The director shared: "If you actually go to the future and film in these amazing locations, you will see many things that you cannot understand. People, vehicles or giant buildings will be completely different.

That's what makes these worlds feel real. Like when you actually travel to foreign lands, you don't understand everything you're seeing."

The Creator crew spent a significant amount of time filming in Thailand, with over 40 locations in 17 different provinces. The film is full of sparkling images of Krabi beaches, bustling streets in Bangkok and dense forests in Chiang Mai…

In addition, this work also marks the return to the big screen of action actress Ngo Thanh Van after a period of hiatus from the arts.
