Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized: "Thong Nhat Hospital was formed from the K71 military medical unit. Over the past 50 years, generations of doctors and nurses have made continuous efforts and overcome difficulties to build the hospital into a leading medical center in the country, successfully completing the task of taking care of the health of cadres and people."

From a military hospital, after the liberation of the South, Thong Nhat Hospital has continuously developed in scale, expertise and technology, becoming one of the leading hospitals in Vietnam, meeting the needs of medical examination and treatment for Party, State and people officials.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Thanh, Director of Thong Nhat Hospital said: "We are proud to have successfully implemented many advanced techniques such as organ transplants, strongly developing specialized centers that meet international standards in cardiovascular, musculoskeletal... The hospital is pioneering in geriatric health research and promoting digital transformation in healthcare."

Not only marking its mark with professional achievements, Thong Nhat Hospital also affirmed its mettle in difficult times, from the front line against the Covid-19 pandemic to initiatives in caring for the elderly, making an important contribution to implementing the strategy of universal health care.
With the achievements after 50 years of construction and development, Thong Nhat Hospital was honored to receive the First Class Independence Medal awarded by the President.

Many collectives and individuals of the hospital received the Second and Third Class Labor Medals from the President; Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and Traditional Flags from the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

Entering a new stage, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan requested the hospital to continue promoting its tradition, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, effectively implementing Resolution 72 of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health; Conclusion No. 127 of the Secretariat on the Project on the target program to protect the health of leaders.
