At the scene, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh listened to the leaders of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center give a quick report on the situation of the floods that have lasted for many days.

Accordingly, heavy rains have caused some areas in the Imperial Citadel to be flooded 0.3-0.5m deep, affecting the landscape, technical infrastructure and conservation and exhibition activities. Authorities, relic staff and local people have mobilized pumps, sandbags and anti-flooding materials to protect the works and ensure the safety of visitors.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh acknowledged the proactive and prompt spirit of local authorities and conservation teams in responding to natural disasters and minimizing damage to heritage. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Complex of Hue Monuments is a world heritage site, so protecting royal architectural works in extreme weather conditions must be given top priority, especially drainage systems, waterproofing, foundation reinforcement and preservation of artifacts.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the city government and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to conduct a comprehensive review of vulnerable items due to floods and storms, and develop a long-term response plan to adapt to climate change.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh also requested units to continue focusing on quickly overcoming the consequences, cleaning and draining water, ensuring early reopening to serve visitors in the spirit of clearing as the water recedes; at the same time, paying attention to ensuring absolute safety for the task force and people in the complicated weather conditions.
