To prevent and promptly handle violations related to the trading of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods, the Market Management Department, the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, has directed 6 market management teams under its management to closely follow the directives of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee 389 on inspection and combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, focusing on essential goods with high consumption demand, such as: food, pharmaceuticals, agricultural supplies, consumer goods and famous brands that are easily counterfeited... At the same time, strengthen propaganda, dissemination of laws, guidance, production and business establishments to sign commitments to produce and do business in accordance with the law.
Promoting its role as the Standing Office of the Steering Committee 389 of Son La province, the Market Management Department also advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Official Dispatch No. 4356/UBND-KT dated August 6, 2025 on implementing solutions to combat, prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement, directing departments, branches, and People's Committees of communes and wards to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the directions of the Prime Minister and the Government Office on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement. Advised the Provincial Steering Committee 389 to issue Plan No. 14/KH-BCĐ dated July 15, 2025 on combating, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement in Son La province...
Since the beginning of the year, the situation of trading in counterfeit goods in the province, although there have been no major incidents, still occurs. The Market Management Department has inspected over 700 cases, detected and handled over 640 violations, collected over 4 billion VND for the State budget, the value of confiscated and destroyed goods is over 1.5 billion VND. The main violations are: Trading in smuggled goods, trading and transporting goods without legal origin, violating labels, violating food safety... of a small scale nature, which have been detected and handled promptly and in accordance with the provisions of law by the Market Management force of Son La province.
In addition to professional duties, the Market Management force identifies propaganda and dissemination of the law as one of the sustainable solutions to prevent violations. During the inspection process, inspectors always combine propaganda and guidance for business households to clearly understand the regulations on invoices, documents, product labels, expiry dates and food safety; at the same time, they require them to sign a commitment not to trade in counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, or goods of unknown origin.
The last months of the year are always the "hot" time of the market, consumer demand increases, violators take advantage of speculation, hoarding goods, and unreasonably increasing prices. Recognizing that situation, the Son La Provincial Market Management Department has issued a plan for peak inspections before, during and after the Lunar New Year. However, in addition to the drastic participation of functional forces, businesses need to proactively raise awareness, responsibility, and ethics of business people, ensuring consumer rights. Each consumer equips himself with knowledge, becomes a smart consumer, recognizes fake and poor quality goods, protects the rights and health of himself and his family.
