(QNO) - On May 26, the People's Committee of Phu Ninh district launched a campaign to encourage all citizens to practice swimming and prevent drowning in 2023.
The People's Committee of Phu Ninh district calls on agencies, departments, and the People's Committees of communes and towns to strengthen guidance and implementation of accident and drowning prevention work for children, students, and the general public.
Simultaneously, organize a nationwide campaign to teach swimming and drowning prevention skills in localities, linking this content with the "Month of Action for Children" from June 1st to June 30th, and summer activities for students in the locality.
Encourage organizations and individuals to invest in building swimming pools in communes, towns, and schools, and encourage units and individuals with facilities and swimming pools to prioritize, waive, or reduce swimming pool rental fees and tuition fees for children, in order to create conditions for children and students to learn and practice swimming.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Danh, Vice Chairman of the Phu Ninh District People's Committee, called on every family, school, and every student and child to actively participate in the swimming practice and drowning prevention movement, and to spread the word so that all citizens can join in.
Following the launching ceremony, the swimming competition for junior and senior high school students in the 2022-2023 school year was organized by the Phu Ninh District People's Committee at the swimming pool of the District's Sports, Information and Communication Center, with distances of 50m freestyle for boys and 50m for girls for both levels.
