7 years ago, after an accident, Ms. NTL broke her right arm, had surgery to fix the bone with screws and plates, and has had a bone fixation device since that day.

In 2023, Ms. NTL continued to suffer an injury to her right arm but did not go for a check-up. During her work and daily activities, Ms. NTL's right arm gradually became deformed, and recently her mobility was limited and she had abnormal movements, so she went to Cam Khe District Medical Center for a check-up.

On May 18, 2025, with the consent of the patient and his family, the surgery was performed. The doctors removed the old bone fixation device, cleaned and renewed the fracture site, grafted the iliac bone into the fracture site, and fixed the bone with a locking splint. After about 90 minutes, the surgery was completed.

According to BSCKII. Giang Hoai Duc - Head of General Surgery and Interdisciplinary Department of Cam Khe District Medical Center shared: The average bone healing time for small bones is about more than 3 months, for large bones about more than 6 months. If more than 2 times this time has passed without any signs of bone healing, it is called a pseudo-joint.

There are three main causes of pseudoarthrosis, including:

- Severe trauma, complex bone damage, blood vessels that nourish bones are destroyed...

- Poor nutrition, smoking, people with systemic diseases...

- Exercising and working too early will negatively affect the bone healing process, not following treatment instructions...

Treatment of prosthetic joints is a difficult, complicated and long-term process. The results of treatment can only be evaluated after many months. The most important thing for patients after bone graft surgery is to follow the doctor's instructions, supplement nutrition and have regular check-ups./.
