Phu Yen Online - Young people with the Thousand Good Deeds movement

After 60 years of launching, the Thousand Good Deeds movement has spread more and more widely, igniting an enthusiastic atmosphere of competition in studying, working, training, fostering love, kindness, doing many good and useful things among Vietnamese children in general, and Phu Yen children in particular. This movement has affirmed the role of children "young people doing small things" in participating in building and protecting the homeland and country, building a strong Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team.

The Heroes of a Thousand Good Deeds

Having just returned from attending the 60th anniversary of the Thousand Good Deeds movement organized by the Central Council of the Young Pioneers in Bac Ninh , Nguyen Ngoc Huy and Truong Bao Nam, both students of class 8B at Le Van Tam Secondary School, Xuan Quang 1 Commune (Dong Xuan District) were filled with pride and emotion. Truong Bao Nam shared: “This is the first time I have traveled so far, so I feel very excited. Attending the celebration, I had the opportunity to interact and meet many Thousand Good Deeds Heroes across the country, and learn many good things.”

Nguyen Ngoc Huy confided: “I feel very lucky and proud to be awarded the title of Hero of a Thousand Good Deeds by the Central Council of the Young Pioneers. Back at school, I told my friends about the activities that took place at the celebration; called on them to work together to do useful things, compete to study well, and practice well.”

Huy and Nam were awarded the title of Hero of a Thousand Good Deeds by the Central Council of the Young Pioneers for their brave actions in saving a drowning person. At noon on April 19, 2022, while cycling to school, the two children heard a cry for help coming from a group of children in the stream next to DT647 passing through Suoi Coi 1 village, Xuan Quang 1 commune, Dong Xuan district. Without hesitation, Huy and Nam rushed into the stream where the children were calling for help, quickly bringing Hoang (5 years old) to shore. At this time, Hoang's body showed signs of purple and pale, Huy and Nam quickly performed CPR on him; at the same time, they ran into a nearby restaurant to call for help from adults to take Hoang to the commune health station. Huy and Nam's brave and dangerous actions in saving a drowning person were later commended, rewarded and spread by the school and the Young Pioneers at all levels to multiply good deeds in the community.

Similar to Huy and Nam, Ho Le Bao Tran, class 8B, Tran Hung Dao Secondary School (Dong Hoa Town) was also honored to represent the Thousand Good Deeds Heroes of Phu Yen to attend the 60th anniversary of the Thousand Good Deeds movement at the central level. Tran's family is near-poor; she has a congenital disability, and despite having undergone many surgeries, moving around is still very difficult. Tran was given a new bicycle by the school, but when she learned that a classmate had a very difficult family situation and had no means of transportation, she proactively asked the team to give it to her friend.

Tran's father, Mr. Ho Van Cu, shared: "Tran has been kind and gentle since childhood. Once, when she went to have breakfast, she found a wallet that a customer had left behind, and she immediately returned it. The owner of the wallet gave her some money as a thank you, but she refused to accept it. Later, they came to my house to give me a wooden calendar and told me about Tran picking up the lost item and returning it; from then on, everyone in the family knew about it. Despite her disability, she is always enthusiastic about helping others and tutoring weaker students. My wife and I are very proud of her."

Let good deeds be everywhere, all the time.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Thousand Good Deeds movement, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers awarded the title of Thousand Good Deeds Hero to 9 children and team members of Phu Yen. The Provincial Young Pioneers Council awarded the title of Thousand Good Deeds Hero to 22 children and team members in the whole province. Thousand Good Deeds Hero is a noble title awarded to team members and children with excellent achievements in studying and training; with beautiful and brave actions, recognized and praised by society such as: saving people, carrying friends to school, picking up lost items and returning them to the owner, helping friends to progress together... This is a timely source of encouragement for children to spread the Thousand Good Deeds movement more widely to generations of children to strive to cultivate, practice, become good children and good students, good grandchildren of Uncle Ho.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thao Giang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union Council, in recent years, youth organizations at all levels have made efforts to organize and design many programs, playgrounds, and activities for children to enthusiastically compete in studying, practicing, and doing good deeds. In particular, the Thousand Good Deeds emulation movement has been promoted by the teams in many practical ways, calling on children to participate in doing thousands of good deeds through their close, practical daily activities. "This movement not only contributes to nurturing and forming in children the good qualities of socialist citizens, but also contains great social values, the foundation for forming and spreading good deeds, beautiful actions, contributing to building and promoting the cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people", Mr. Giang emphasized.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Vo Duy Kha, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union Council said: In order for the Thousand Good Deeds movement to be promoted more strongly, in the coming time, the Youth Union and Youth Union Councils at all levels will continue to study and draw good lessons to promote the movement in the new context with creative, practical and effective ways; thereby creating conditions and an environment for children to do many good deeds, multiplying more examples of good people, good deeds, good actions, implementing Uncle Ho's advice: "Each good person, each good deed is a beautiful flower, our whole nation is a beautiful flower forest".

Every good deed you do, every beautiful story you create becomes a beautiful flower, useful for life. Through daily good deeds, each child and member will form a beautiful personality and kindness.
