For the first time, Vietnamese lychees have appeared on the shelves of Costco - the largest retail supermarket chain in the United States.

According to information from the Vietnam Trade Office in San Francisco (USA), in July 2025, Dragonberry Produce Company - one of the leading importers of high-end agricultural products in the US - continued to deploy a campaign to distribute Vietnamese Bac Ninh lychees in the US market, through major supermarket chains such as Safeway and for the first time, Vietnamese lychees were on the shelves of the largest retail supermarket chain in the US - Costco (with 635 supermarkets in the US and Canada). This is the third consecutive year that Dragonberry has brought this specialty fruit to the US, marking the steady development of this product in the international market.

Golden Lychees is the brand name for Vietnamese lychees cultivated according to Global GAP standards, not only outstanding for their pink-red color, sweet taste and characteristic crunchiness, but also ensuring strict US plant quarantine standards. After being irradiated in Vietnam, the lychees are transported by sea to the US, maintaining their freshness and quality.

According to Dragonberry representatives, bringing Vietnamese lychees into large retail chains such as Safeway and Costco is not only a commercial success, but also a testament to Vietnam’s potential for exporting high-end agricultural products. American consumers are increasingly fond of the distinctive flavor of Vietnamese lychees, and it is important for Dragonberry to maintain quality and build a sustainable brand.

The cooperation between Dragonberry and lychee growing localities in Vietnam does not stop at the simple aspect of buying and selling, but goes deeper into the chain of connections from cultivation techniques, preliminary processing, preservation to market communication. Dragonberry is currently working directly with Vietnamese cooperatives and enterprises to standardize production processes, and at the same time expand to other fruits such as longan, dragon fruit, passion fruit, as a basis to boost lychee export output and sustainable development.

In the context of integration and the increasing need to diversify the US agricultural supply, the fact that businesses like Dragonberry are pioneering the export of fresh Vietnamese fruits to the US is a positive sign. The fact that lychees are sold at large supermarket chains such as Safeway and Costco not only increases the export value, but also contributes to positioning the image of Vietnamese agricultural products on the world food map, reflecting the effective cooperation between businesses and distributors.

The Vietnam Trade Office in San Francisco said that in the coming time, it will continue to accompany and support businesses to expand their products and markets, bringing more Vietnamese agricultural products to the US market.
